Greetings!
Despite the best summer we have had for a while, this year the clubs social events have generally been better supported then the clubs cruising events. This is partly because we have comparatively few members with boats, and partly because those with boats have a number of calls on their time.
So while we are a cruising club, and shall I hope always have cruising events, perhaps we should add a couple more social events into next years calendar.
Our next social event is drinks in the snug followed by a curry at Sami Spice on Friday 10th October from 6.30pm. I hope to see you there. If you have recently joined the club or are thinking of joining, please do come along and get to know everybody.

The Great River Race BBQ Saturday 27th saw Steve behind the BBQ once again raising funds for the RNLI. By the time that the first boats started to pass Brentford Dock at around 3pm a decent crowd had gathered keeping Steve busy most of the afternoon. A total 633 was raised on the day so thanks to everybody that came along and a big thank you to Steve for his sterling efforts.
The ATYC Rally 23rd-25th August Harvey and Joy represented the club at the Assn of Thames Yacht Clubs Rally at West India Dock. The event was attended by 86 boats coming coming from clubs up and down the Thames. Although there was no formal competition this year, there were various events taking place throughout the weekend including a BBQ on Saturday night featuring a 'Knees up' , traditional London Pub sing along with the Pealy King and Queen.
Unfortunately, on Monday, Joy slipped while getting back on the boat and ended up at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel with a broken leg. Poor Joy had to stay there until 19th September, with Harvey living on the boat which he had moved to Limehouse. I'm sure you will all join me in wishing Joy a speedy recovery from what was clearly a nasty accident.
