Greetings!
I'm sure that you will all agree that there are times when life's other commitments push boating to one side and you are not able to get out on the water, despite some lovely weather. This is where I find myself currently, though hopefully not for too much longer. I hope that they rest of you have done better, as I'm sure that the publicans on the Thames needed cheering up after the dismally wet start to the year. Best wishes

The Olde Swan, Thames Ditton
The 6th of July was not a great tide day as although it enabled us to lock out at around 10am, it meant the we had to come back at low water and leave the boats on the outside pontoon. Undeterred, Hebe III and Bolt set off for lunch up river, ultimately reaching the Old Swan in Thames Ditton. Despite being told the the Albany was better when checking directions, a decent lunch was had by all. The journey back at low water brought us back through Richmond Lock. This now costs £6 if you pay by cash, but only £5 if you pay on a card. On reaching Brentford the climb up the ladder from the outside pontoon proved too much for some of Bolt's crew, however the newly installed pontoon with no cleats by Kew Bridge came in handy, providing a more user-friendly route back to dry land!

Coming Up
Paddington Basin and the Thames Barrier
Jan and Leslie are planning to take Porgy and Bess to the Sunbury fireworks on 10th August and can probably provide a nearby berth for anybody else interested in going.
They also plan to take the boat to Paddington Basin during August however have yet to finalise their dates.
Finally, there is also a good window to cruise down to the Thames Barrier on Sunday 17th August which they are considering.
If you would like to accompany them on any of these trips, please get in touch directly...e mail ferbers@talktalk.net.
