Greetings!
The Great River Race, which the organisers describe as London's River Marathon, takes place every year from London Dockland to Ham. It attracts over 300 crews from around the world and appeals to every level of competitor from those who enjoy fun, fancy dress and charity stunts, to serious sportsmen and women who like to win. With a hot day forecast why not bring a picnic and join the in the fun. The race starts at 12.10pm and will start passing Brentford Dock about an hour later. Best wishes

 Sunbury Fireworks/Windsor Cruise
Two boats set off from Twickenham before midday on Saturday, heading for Shepperton Marina. An overheating engine slowed our progress however we arrived mid afternoon and met up with a couple of other boats that had proceeded us. Having found our moorings we got barbequing so there was plenty of time to eat and get back to Sunbury for the sailpast and fireworks. Around 8.30pm we all piled on to two boats and headed for Sunbury lock where we moored up just above the lock for a great view of the evenings proceedings. After a sailpast featuring a Dr Who boat and the Black Pearl amongst others, we noticed a queue o f people heading through a small gap in the hedge. We joined the queue and ended up in the field where the fireworks were being let off, so sat down on the grass and and took advantage of our ringside seats. The display that followed was nothing short of stunning and made a great finale to the evening. Fireworks over, we hopped back on our boats and motored back to Shepperton. A late start got the two remaining boats to Windsor in time for a decent supper with Monday evening being spent at Windsor Races. Tuesday saw the trip back to from Windsor to Brentford. It was a long day, but rounded off the longest cruise that Hebe has done in a while.
