Reflections on Hot Biofuel Issues:
Pull Off Those Big Oil Blinders! 
 
Race horses can't remove their blinders, but thoughtful, engaged people can remove their metaphorical blinders to understand energy issues and ideas that surround them.  When it comes to fueling our motor vehicles, big oil would like for us to keep the blinders on so we see oil as the only way to supply the energy we need to maintain a high quality of life.  What are the big oil blinders preventing us from seeing?

With big oil blinders on, we might overlook some critical issues.  For instance, the $31 billion in combined profits reported by several oil companies through the second quarter overlooks how these companies drill deeper into the fragile Gulf of Mexico, frack for oil and use huge amounts of water and energy to tear up the Boreal Forest for tar sands oil.  Those blinders also make it difficult to see the effects of oil spills and pipeline releases around the globe including in the pristine waters of British Columbia and on popular beaches in Thailand. Sign the Petition for E-15 in Minnesota! 

As part of the campaign to bring E15 to the marketplace so consumers can save money, keep energy dollars in Minnesota and help improve environmental quality, the Minnesota Bio-Fuels Association has unveiled a petition form for consumers to sign.  We invite you to review the short petition and express your support for E15 by signing the petition here: MBA E15 PETITION     

Event Update: 2013 Farmfest 

From August 6-8th MBA exhibited at the Farmfest event in Gilfillan Estate in Redwood County, Minnesota.  MBA staff spoke with hundreds of individuals from throughout the state of Minnesota about the benefits of biofuels and gave away over 1,000 MBA and ethanol promotional items. MBA registered attendees into a drawing for (6) $50 prepaid Visa cards. Congratulations to our winners!

WANTED: Potential E15 Retailers
Grant funding ($$$) is now available to help a limited number of retailers update their fuel dispensing systems so they can offer consumers choice at the pump by making E15 available!  If you are a fuel retailer and are interested in increasing your profitability with E-15 sales, please contact [email protected] for more details about the grant program. The transition to E15 sales can be made just a bit easier with the information MBA provides on the E-15 page or in the E-15 Retailer Handbook.
