Dr. Ganzel has been associated with the Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research and the Department of Human Development at Cornell University since 1996 in a variety of capacities, most recently as PI and Director of a neuroimaging research laboratory; advisor to both undergraduate and graduate research students; and instructor of courses in neuroscience and human development. Please join us for an interactive gathering for professionals and caregivers from the 17 rural counties in our service area. Interdisciplinary providers can get the training and resources they need to enhance their services and learn best practices that they can bring home to their own communities to improve the lives of rural elders.

The one-day conference, which will feature presentations by researchers and aging experts, will take place on May 25 from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM at the lovely Belhurst Castle in Geneva NY. We are fortunate to have grant funding to cover the costs of the conference so registration will be FREE! Early registration is recommended since space is limited.

Presentations will include
  • Managing challenging behaviors associated with dementia care
  • Project ECHO-improving access to complex chronic disease and specialty care in underserved communities through the use of videoconferencing technology
  • REST-a model training program for caregiver respite
  • HELP NY Seniors-health literacy training for older adults and their caregivers
  • New Strategies for non-pharmacological chronic pain management
  • Retaining the home care workforce
A full agenda with presentation descriptions and bios will be posted on the website soon.

PLEASE NOTE:
Since this is the first conference of our funding cycle, we will be highlighting programs that we will be making available in our service area (17 rural counties in central Upstate NY). As a result, we must restrict registration to health and human services professionals and caregivers from the following counties - Allegany, Cayuga, Chemung, Cortland, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins, Wayne, Wyoming, and Yates.
