This workshop will cover the neurobiology of pain and its management. A continuum of normal pain to abnormal pain will be presented. MAGGIE GROWLS

Textor Hall, Room 102
Ithaca College

Free and open to the public. Discussion to follow.

"MAGGIE GROWLS is a documentary film portrait by Barbara Attie and Janet Goldwater of the amazing, canny, lusty, charming and unstoppable Maggie Kuhn (1905-1995), who founded the Gray Panthers in 1970 after being forced to retire from a job she loved. Her outrage and determination fueled a political chain reaction that forever changed the lives of older Americans, repealing mandatory retirement laws and proving that "old" is not a dirty word... Maggie created one of the most potent social movements of the century - one that was committed to justice, peace and fairness to all, regardless of age."
Summer Dana Intern: In Her Own Words

My name is Jacquelyn Kim Reyes and I will be a senior in the Occupational Therapy Program at IC in the Fall of 2015. My interest in working with the geriatric population in the future combined with my interest in research brought me to the amazing opportunity of being an intern for the Gerontology Institute in the summer of 2015. I worked on several projects surrounding the Age Friendly Ithaca and Tompkins County Initiative with different individuals and organizations in the community. Some of the projects include creating transportation resources for older adults in the community, coding journals regarding service learning for students and older adults, and preparing for the Age Friendly Ithaca and Tompkins County Kick Off.
Our Mission
The Ithaca College Gerontology Institute provides high quality education to students and professionals, empowering them to positively impact the lives of older people.
