May is Older Americans Month
Each May, we celebrate Older Americans Month to recognize older Americans for their valuable contributions. This year, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Older Americans Act (OAA), the theme for Older Americans Month 2015 is "Get into the Act." By promoting and engaging in activity, wellness, and inclusivity, more Americans than ever before can "Get into the Act." It is also an occasion to highlight how older adults are engaging with and making a difference in our local communities. Here in Tompkins County, two local agencies will celebrate older adults at their annual meetings. We hope you'll join us for these local celebrations.
Best wishes,
Rhoda Meador,
Director
