Three-Peat: Virginia Hospital Center Selected as a 100 Top Hospital- Yet Again!

For the third year in a row, Virginia Hospital Center has been named one of America's 100 Top Hospitals

by Truven Health Analytics. In addition, we are the only hospital in the Virginia/Washington, DC/Baltimore
region to be included on this year's list

Selection as a Top 100 Hospital means that our community is receiving world class medical care in a safe and comfortable environment. Donor support played an important role in this recognition because donors provide critically needed resources that are directly invested in clinical care and safety programs that touch patients each and every day.

Truven Health Analytics is the nation's leading impartial organization to evaluate hospital performance, appraising nearly 3,000 US hospitals annually. Their recognition of our quality and value is particularly important because hospitals do not apply for the award nor do they have to pay to publicize their receipt of it. The Truven Health 100 Top Hospitals study evaluates only objective, public data reflecting performance in specific areas including quality of care, safety, and patient satisfaction.

Our new partnership with the Jennifer Bush-Lawson Foundation

Virginia Hospital Center Foundation and the Jennifer Bush-Lawson Foundation have formed a partnership to support mothers and babies living in Arlington who are in need. Through annual fundraising events, this partnership will support access to prenatal and postpartum services and connect mothers and babies to resources to provide for a healthy start in life for baby and promote maternal health and well-being.

The Jennifer Bush-Lawson Foundation (JB-LF) was established in memory of Jennifer Bush-Lawson who was tragically killed in 2014 when she was struck by a dump truck outside of Nottingham Elementary School. JB-LF was founded in the belief that every mother and every child deserve important healthcare services for a healthy start in life.  Support from the JB-LF will help the Hospital provide access to medical services, counseling and support for economically vulnerable mothers-to-be, newborn babies and postpartum mothers who don't have the means or resources to start their journey on solid footing. Virginia Hospital Center and Arlington Pediatric Center are key strategic partners in carrying out the vision of the Jennifer Bush-Lawson Foundation.  With generous support from community members, JB-LF has already had a positive impact on Arlington by funding prenatal care for mothers and well-child and specialty care for the newborn infants.

We are proud to be partners with the Jennifer Bush-Lawson Foundation and working collaboratively to support mothers and children in need. Please click here for the JB-LF brochure.

Celebrate Doctor's Day with Virginia Hospital Center Foundation

Doctors' Day marks the date (March 30, 1842) that Crawford W. Long, M.D. administered the first ether anesthetic on a patient for surgery. Nearly 150 years later, Congress designated March 30 as "National Doctors Day," which celebrates and recognizes the contributions of doctors to individual lives and the community.

With more than 1,300 physicians committed to healthcare excellence, the Virginia Hospital Center medical staff provides high quality, cutting-edge care for thousands of patients, 365 days-a-year. In celebration of 2015 National Doctors' Day (Monday, March 30), let a special doctor know how much you appreciate his or her commitment to your good health by making a tax-deductible donation in his or her honor to support the Virginia Hospital Center Foundation.
