Virginia Hospital Center selected as a 100 Top Hospital - Again!

For the second year in a row, Virginia Hospital Center has been named one of America's 100 Top Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics, the nation's leading independent organization that evaluates nearly 3,000 U.S. hospitals. We are one of only two hospitals in the Virginia/Washington DC/Baltimore region to be so named and are honored to be recognized as part of this elite group. This acknowledgement is particularly prestigious because it cannot be applied for, so the selection process is based entirely upon objective, public data from trusted sources on the quality of care that a hospital provides.

This award serves as confirmation that Virginia Hospital Center is as a national healthcare leader in clinical excellence and patient experience. To learn more click here.

Saying Thanks to A Special Doctor!

Doctors' Day marks the date (March 30, 1842) that Crawford W. Long, M.D. administered the first ether anesthetic on a patient for surgery. Nearly 150 years later, Congress designated March 30 as "National Doctors Day," which celebrates and recognizes the contributions of doctors to individual lives and the community.

With more than 1,300 physicians practicing at the Hospital and committed to healthcare excellence, Virginia Hospital Center medical staff provides high quality, cutting-edge care for thousands of patients, 365 days-a-year. Hitt Family Center for Radiation Oncology Dedicated

VHC Bloom On March 20, the Virginia Hospital Center Department of Radiation Oncology was dedicated and renamed as the Hitt Family Center for Radiation Oncology at a private ceremony at Virginia Hospital Center. The dedication and naming ceremony honors longtime supporters Russell and Joan Hitt for their generosity in helping to fund the expansion of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Virginia Hospital Center.

The Hitt Family Center for Radiation Oncology features a new state-of-the-art treatment suite offering the TrueBeam™ Linear Accelerator that provides advanced radiation treatments for lung, breast, prostate, head and neck, and other types of cancer. Additional treatment innovations include synchronization between imaging, patient positioning, motion management, beam shaping, and dose delivery technologies, and performing accuracy checks every ten milliseconds throughout an entire treatment.
