Virginia Hospital Center receives nursing Magnet status

Virginia Hospital Center was recently designated as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). The ANCC's Magnet Recognition ProgramŽ is the highest level of acknowledgement of a healthcare organization's quality patient care, nursing excellence and innovations in professional nursing practice. 

 

Magnet recognition is a very prestigious credential that signifies all around excellence in nursing practice and patient care. For the community that we serve, it is affirmation that Virginia Hospital Center is committed to bringing nursing excellence directly to the bedside.

Enhancing Surgical services at Virginia Hospital Center 

With more than 16,000 surgeries performed at Virginia Hospital Center in 2013, the Hospital is a regional leader in surgical procedures. The Hospital is committed to the utilizing advanced surgical technology with a focus on continuously improving patient outcomes, reducing recovery time, and enhancing patient safety.

 

To meet our patient's needs for surgical services, Virginia Hospital Center is seeking to invest more than $5 million in 2014-2015 to enhance our surgery center. Planned enhancements include:

  • Expanding access to operating rooms.
  • Upgrading Surgical Information Technology (IT)
  • Adding state-of-the-art video and imaging technology for use by orthopedic surgery and neurosurgery.
  • Expanding Interventional Radiology (IR)
  • Supporting Robotic Surgery Program

Arlington Pediatric Center's 9th Annual Benefit - Mardi Gras  

APC's 9th annual Mardi Gras-themed benefit was a huge success raising over $150,000 to support care for low-income and uninsured children living in Arlington. Thank you to our 350 guests for supporting this event.

 

Guest enjoyed Mardi Gras fun at Army Navy Country Club, including dinner, dancing, a magician, juggler, and psychic. 19 specialty baskets were raffled and our live auction included 10 spectacular destination and unique prize packages.   

 

APC's annual benefit supports primary, acute, and mental healthcare services for children in need. Since opening its doors more than twelve years ago as a community benefit program of Virginia Hospital Center, APC has provided compassionate care to over 10,500 children at more than 130,000 clinical visits. Thank you again to our donors and sponsors for their support.  Please click here to view our sponsors and host committee.

Doctors Day


DD day Doctors' Day marks the date (March 30, 1842) that Crawford W. Long, M.D. administered the first ether anesthetic on a patient for surgery. Nearly 150 later, Congress designated March 30 as "National Doctors Day," which celebrates and recognizes the contributions of doctors to individual lives and the community.

 

With more than 1,300 physicians practicing at the Hospital and committed to healthcare excellence, Virginia Hospital Center medical staff provides high quality, cutting-edge care for thousands of patients, 365 days-a-year.
