Virginia Hospital Center Emergency Department receives prestigious Lantern Award

Lantern Virginia Hospital Center's Emergency Department has been selected as a Lantern Award recipient by the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA). The Lantern Award designation, as described by the ENA, "is a visible symbol of an emergency department's commitment to quality, safety, a healthy work environment and innovation in nursing practice and emergency care.  Achievement of the Lantern Award indicates that an emergency department offers exemplary performance in the core areas of leadership, practice, education, advocacy and research."

This is the ENA's third year presenting the award and Virginia Hospital Center joins only 36 other recipients nationally. We are the only hospital in Northern Virginia and Washington, DC area to receive this three-year accreditation.  We are honored and proud to receive this designation, being one of only nine emergency departments in 2013 to meet the award criteria for Lantern Award designation.
