Select Account Changes:  After the RFP in 2013 the agreement between the MN Service Cooperatives and Select Account was approved beginning 1/1/14.  There are several changes from the past agreement and here are the major changes.  First, the monthly management fee has increased from $1.83 per month to $2.11.  Secondly, the monthly management fee will be increased for groups that don't meet crossover or debit card usage by 1/1/15.  Lastly, in order to increase the participation in the debit cards any member who is not enrolled in either the crossover feature or the debit card were issued a debit card on 1/1/14.  Members are not required to use the debit card and have the option to cancel the card by calling the number on the back of the card.  Account managers will be working with each group that does not meet the benchmarks for participation to discuss strategies for increasing the participation so groups rates remain unchanged in future years.

Virtual Health Clinic: Use Online Care Anywhere® to talk to a doctor using video or secure text chat. No emails, no surveys, no waiting - you'll have a live conversation with a real doctor. Our U.S. board-certified doctors can answer your questions, diagnose your condition and prescribe medications. It's easy to use, confidential, and costs just $45 per visit and will coordinate with your insurance.  The School Insurance Pool will provide ancillary supplies (scale, blood pressure cuff, thermometers, wipes, sharps container) for any school pool member who 'opens' a virtual clinic in their district.  For more information on this, please contact Kari Bailey at kari.bailey@swsc.org.

Children's Author & Illustrator Program:  Presenters

presenters for the 2013-2014 school residency program are Nancy Carlson, Rick Chrustowski, and Nancy Loewen.  They were invited back again this year because of great evaluations and will be visiting different schools than they did last year.  Residencies will take place during the weeks of April 7-11 and April 22-25, 2014 for 17 districts and two public libraries.  If your school doesn't participate in this program, consider doing so next year!  Below are a couple comments from last year's evaluations. "Each year the author or illustrator brings a different approach to their presentation - which makes it unique!  When they leave, I feel like we have been so lucky to meet a 'real' author - and to hear about how they got started in this field."  "It gave the children on opportunity to see how the books in their hands came to exist; it also sparked interest in both writing and illustrating for many of our students."
