CAHEC's 15th Annual Partners Conference a Huge Success
This year, over 450 attendees from 18 states attended the 15th Annual CAHEC Partners Conference on Tuesday, May 24, and Wednesday, May 25, at the Raleigh Convention Center. Attendees had the opportunity to network with other industry professionals while learning updates in the tax credit arena. Presentation materials from this year's sessions are available on our website.
On Tuesday evening, conference attendees were invited to a western-themed reception and dinner in the Raleigh Marriott City Center State Ballroom. Guests donned their hats and boots, enjoyed appetizers and drinks, and participated in various interactive games. After dinner, guests were encouraged to get on the dance floor with our line dance instructors as the Blake Kearney Band got the party started!
On Wednesday, CAHEC welcomed guests to the Partners Appreciation Luncheon, where organizations and individuals were honored for their outstanding contributions to the affordable housing industry. Continue reading on to learn more about the 2016 winners.

On Wednesday, May 25, 2016, CAHEC held the annual CAHEC Awards ceremony at the Raleigh Convention Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. For the last 15 years we have been honored to recognize organizations and individuals for their important contribution to the affordable housing industry. This year was no exception.
CAHEC is pleased to share the winners of the 2016 CAHEC Awards:
- Investor of the Year: South State Bank
- Excellence in Community Revitalization: Belle Summit Apartments, Richmond, VA
- CAHEC Values Award: Annette Curtis, Evergreen Construction Company
- Community Investments - Participant of the Year: Brook Williams, Seven Oaks Apartments, Burgaw, NC
- Lifetime Achievement in Affordable Housing: Bob Kucab, Executive Director, North Carolina Housing Finance Agency

Open Doors Homeownership Grant Deadline
Quickly Approaching
There is still time to share CAHEC's Open Doors Homeownership Grant opportunity! This year, we are offering three grants to nonprofit organizations engaged in developing for-sale affordable housing to low-income households - one at $25,000; one at $15,000; and one at $10,000. Applications must be submitted through our online application portal by July 31 to be considered.

Our Mission in Action
- Congratulations to City Lights in Atlanta, GA, on receiving $6,500 through CAHEC's Rex Williams Wellness Grant! This grant provided a treadmill, elliptical, dumbbell set, and wind bike for residents to use in the property's wellness room.
- The CAHEC crew has been busy this year with various Team Outreach volunteer activities, including our partnership with CASA, an affordable housing developer for low-income people with disabilities. Whether we're power washing hallways or laying mulch at the properties, we are honored to dedicate our time to organizations with missions in line with our own.
- We're pleased to announce that the CAHEC Foundation has partnered with NAHMA Educational Foundation to provide college education scholarships to high school students living in our footprint. Stay tuned for more information!
CAHEC is more than a provider of equity financing. We are committed to being a relevant presence within the communities we serve by supporting a number of initiatives that provide sustainable opportunities such as loans, grants, and our unique Community Investments to our partners.
