Wellness Initiatives Have
Successful Start

Part of CAHEC's wellness initiatives focus on improving our residents' health and well-being. Through the Rex Williams Wellness Grant, we provide funding to up-fit a property's wellness center, giving residents access to on-site fitness equipment that can lead to a healthy and active life. Ruby McAlister, property manager of Hunter Hill Apartments in Tarboro, NC, shares her excitement, "It's great to be able to offer this wonderful fitness equipment to our residents! It's an awesome way to help them exercise and also connect as a community."

Beginning this year, CAHEC's grant now offers a free equipment consultation with our fitness experts to help partners design the wellness center best suited for their property. Dave Marsic, owner of Prosource Fitness Equipment, explains that learning a property's space availability can ensure we better meet the needs of residents. "We want the center to be a success! With our assistance, we can design the proper layout of the equipment and make the center safer and more inviting." To provide quality customer service, our fitness experts also deliver and personally install each piece of equipment to the property.

Registration Open for the 2015 CAHEC Partners Conference

It's that time of year again! On Tuesday, May 19, and Wednesday, May 20, CAHEC will return to the Raleigh Convention Center to host the 2015 CAHEC Partners Conference. As always, the conference promises ample opportunity to keep informed about changes in the tax credit arena, network with industry leaders, and relax at the evening networking event.

This year, in addition to the educational sessions and CAHEC Awards Luncheon, CAHEC invites our attendees to put on their favorite Hawaiian shirt and join us in the State Ballroom at the Marriott City Center for the CAHEC luau! Participants will enjoy a reception, dinner, and live music.

For guests needing overnight accommodations, a block of guest rooms at the adjoining Marriott City Center is available for attendees at the special conference rate of $165 per night (plus taxes and fees). The deadline for this special rate is April 20, 2015. Click here to make your hotel reservations today.

For complete conference information, please visit our conference webpage. We look forward to making the 2015 conference the best one yet!

Our Mission in Action

CAHEC is more than a provider of equity financing. We are committed to being a relevant presence within the communities we serve by supporting a number of intiatives that provide sustainable opportunities such as loans, grants, and our unique Community Investments to our partners.
  • CAHEC and Dell have partnered to provide a quality computer center to our partners through CAHEC's Technology Resource Grant. Our enhanced grant offers a desktop computer with an extended 5-year warranty and Microsoft Office, 4GB of memory, a 19-inch monitor, and an all-in-one printer/scanner. Kristal Hubbard, a resident in Forsyth, GA, loves having access to CAHEC's Technology Resource Center.

"I enjoy using the center because it's nice to have resources available to print any documents I need. I can also avoid the added monthly expense of having internet in my apartment. With this center, I can pay bills and shop online, and keep in touch with family and friends easily!"

  • CAHEC is pleased to hear our new Youth Leadership Initiative is receiving such positive feedback. The North Carolina Banker's Association received numerous applications from CAHEC youth residents hoping to attend Camp Challenge this summer. Campers will learn in early April if they have been selected to attend.

  • Congratulations to one of our Risk Managers, Nancy Pearce, on being appointed to an advisory committee for the National Council of Housing Market Analysts (NCHMA). The committee, comprised of industry experts, will provide guidance on current NCHMA market studies and offer feedback on how they can improve. Since most investors require NCHMA market studies, the committee will play a big role in enhancing the quality of the market studies and influencing NCHMA policies.
