Hello from the Idaho B&B Association
|
,
Thanks for taking the time to read our May-June 2014 newsletter.
I enjoyed getting to know several of our members in Sun Valley at the annual Idaho Conference on Recreation & Tourism. The conference provides such a great opportunity for our members to learn more about the tourism industry and how it affects our small lodging businesses throughout the state. This year the Longwoods International Research report provided some great information on Idaho tourism and I am happy to share the report with any of you that may request it via email. Ann Dee Johnson, VP of Longwoods, shared that providing internet access, to your guests, is now the most important amenity for the U.S. traveler.
Deidre Campbell, owner of the Tartan Group shared her insights regarding the Canadian Traveler showing a 65% growth since 1995 in visitors to Idaho seeking active adventures involving nature, culture and physical activities. This makes our bicycle trail, scenic by-way and state park map a hot commodity in Canada.
I hope to see more of you in attendance next year in Boise.
Thanks,
Brian Scott, IBBA President

2013 "Bonzey Award"
for Inn-spirational Innkeeper Of The Year Presented to
John & Tina Hough of The Roosevelt Inn
This award is given annually to inn-keepers that have shown uncommon and unselfish giving of time to make themselves available to help others in the industry and in the community. The aspiration to do so, is formed from a strong desire to see others succeed in the industry. The winners of this year's "Bonzey Award" for Inn-spirational Inn-Keeping" in the state of Idaho for 2013 exhibit these qualities. They have shared not just their business experiences, but also their business practices. They both have served on the North Idaho B&B Association as Presidents at different times and as members of the Idaho B&B Association Board of Directors since its inception in 2009.
John and Tina currently are proprietors of the oldest remaining school house in Coeur d'Alene, a school actually attended by the current owner, John Hough. Converted in 1994, this one time 4-room school house is now a grand 5 story B&B in Coeur d'Alene, called the Roosevelt Inn.
