Greetings!
Growing up we always had dogs, big dogs! German Shepherds when I was young and then a couple of monster Newfoundlands in my teens. So as you can imagine I did alot of walking, always being told to walk the dogs. And they didn't want little walks, I spent hours a day walking them through the woods near our house. So in adulthood I wanted nothing to do with dog ownership, besides the fact of learning that I am allergic to pet dander. But Michelle the crazed pet lover that she is, was not going to let that happen and it wasn't long before she had a list of hypoallergenic breeds ready for me to pick out. Over the years as the kids have grown we have owned a number of different dogs, but none of them really fit into our lifestyle until she brought home Cally our brown & white Shih Tzu. She has always been the most excited to go camping and is in heaven when she gets to go on a walk. She is relentless in begging to be walked and I easily put in no less than 5 miles of campground walks in a weekend. She is an incredibly finicky eater and is pretty independent. And since no dog should be alone, Michelle surprised me with Wiley our black & white Shih Tzu when we had just made it back to just one animal. He could not be more different than Cally and only likes very short walks, can't wait for meal time and reminds you of a soft teddy bear always trying to snuggle up to you. Although they have me up at the crack of dawn walking the campground roads and trails and inappropriately doing their business in the worse places, I could not imagine camping without them.
