Indiana Youth Institute Webinar: Trauma-informed Care: Healing the Helper Wednesday, June 22, 2016 1:00pm-2:30pm (Eastern) 12:00pm-1:30pm (Central)
An occupational hazard of the caregiver is burnout, but it doesn't have to be. Youth workers often strive to leave emotions and personal struggles out of the equation when they come to work, but statistics show that trauma is pervasive and can affect all individuals no matter their background, including helpers! How do we heal the helper?
Trauma-Informed Care: Healing the Helper, explores the impact of trauma exposure from the direct perspective of the helper. Take an honest look at what is hurting and what is helping within your environment that can result in either compassion satisfaction or compassion fatigue. Develop a simple self-care plan in response to work stress and locate specific ways to expand your overall level of compassion satisfaction. Emotional health can have a direct impact on performance and outcomes, so take a break to care for yourself and pass along the healing to the youth you serve. Registration HERE.
