Follow the lead of a New York retailer, who took a large antique wooden trunk, placed "Sale" signage on it, and used it to hold a selection of summer clearance items. "There is something about rooting through a trunk that people like," she says. "It's like unearthing a treasure!" Rather than load it with too much product that might appear "junky," she chose to fill in as items sold.
