One Month Left to Submit Your Photo Contest Entry
 
National RTAP's Fifth Annual Photo Contest theme this year is Reaching Your Riders: Getting the Word Out About Your Transit Services. Photos should reflect the ways that you market your transit system to the community. For more information, including great prizes, contest rules, and a link to the photo release form, please visit our Photo Contest Page. Entries are due July 15th, 2014 to info@nationalrtap.org, and must include all necessary documentation.


FTA/DOT Updates

Final 5310 Circular (Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities) published.

 

Ladders of Opportunity Initiative recovers $100 million in funding from 5309- Bus and Bus Facilities Program (SAFETEA-LU). Funds can be used for rehabilitating or purchasing buses and facilities. Proposals due August 4th.

 

Mobility Services for All Americans (MSAA) Deployment Planning funding applications are due July 1st. 


Government Accountability Office (GAO) report on the Length of Development Process, Cost Estimates, and Ridership Forecasts for Capital-Investment Grant Projects (New Starts/Small Starts/Very Small Starts).

TRB's National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Report 769: A Guide for Public Transportation Pandemic Planning and Response is designed to help small urban and rural transportation systems prepare for pandemic outbreaks, as well as seasonal infectious diseases.

Transit IDEA Project 73: Innovative Operating Strategies for Paratransit Services explores a method of providing paratransit services  to improve service and reduce empty trip miles.

Announcements

Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) is currently the topic in the Senior Transportation Exchange. 

Easter Seals Project ACTION (ESPA) is hosting Part 1 of Excellence in Service for Paratransit Managers from July 21st to August 22nd. Register and find out more about this course.

Five Weeks Until Early Bird Registration Deadline for RIBTC

We hope you will join us at the upcoming Rural Public and Intercity Bus Conference in Monterey, CA, October 26-29th. Register for the conference at www.ribtc.org by July 20th to receive the early bird rate. 

The conference is being held at the Monterey Plaza Hotel, which is sold out.
