National RTAP 101 Webinar Series Returns with Charter Service Regulations

The second webinar in the National RTAP 101 Webinar Series will take place on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 from 2-3pm EST. Sarah Brodt Lenz, Greater Minnesota Public Transit Coordinator and former National RTAP Board Member, will be presenting on the FTA charter service regulations. What's New in the National RTAP Resource Library?

Performance-Based Planning and Programming Guidebook is a guide for transportation planners, transit operators, and state DOTs to applying performance management measures to intermodal transportation systems.

Flexible Public Transportation Services in Florida, pubilshed by the Florida DOT, showcases flexible and alternative transportation service models such as route deviation, request stops, and flexible-route segments at Florida transit agencies.

USF Journal of Public Transportation, Volume 16, No. 3, contains articles about bus rapid transit and transit deserts.

 

National Center on Senior Transportation's (NCST) Elder Mobility/Transportation Providers' Needs Assessment and Technical Assistance is a report using 2012 data about the constraints in providing transportation for older adults.

  

NCST also maintains a list of best practices in senior transportation on their new website.

 

Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA) has provided some commentary on the proposed 5311 circular, as well as the Transit Safety ANPRM

 

Large Truck and Bus Crash Facts 2011 provides data on bus crashes, including damage and fatalities.

FTA/DOT Updates

 

US Department of Transportation announces funds for research on strengthening transit safety and disaster recovery. 
 
Reminder: Comments are due by November 25th, 2013 for the Formula Grants for Rural Areas (Section 5311 Program) proposed circular. Please pay special attention to the newly updated sections of the circular, including (among others): New eligible activities and new apportionment formula (Chapter III), New Appalachian Development Public Transportation Assistance Program (Chapter VII), Intercity Bus (Chapter VIII) and Updates to the Tribal Transit Program (Chapter X).
 
Submit a formal comment online on the Federal Register Notice page, or read the first section of the proposed circular notice for other ways to comment.
