National RTAP Announces Winners of 2013 Photo Contest

National RTAP is pleased to announce the winners of the 2013 National RTAP Photo Contest. We were extremely pleased with the quality of all of the photos submitted, and chose the final winners based on creativity, technical quality, theme, and overall composition. The winners of the 2013 photo contest, "Putting Training to Work," are as follows.

First place and the grand prize went to Scott Clark and Gus Toro of Hillsborough County Sunshine Line in Tampa, FL, for their photo "Wheelchair Sensitivity Training 2013." The second place winner was Kyle Hamilton of Palmetto Breeze, Bluffton, SC, for his photo "Hands On Fire Extinguisher Training," submitted by Rochelle Ferguson, Director of Palmetto Breeze.

Honorable mentions were made to three outstanding photographs, "Burned Out Bus," submitted by Tina Miller of Transit Association of Maryland (TAM), and taken by Micki Bittner of Micki Bittner Photography; "Thumbs Up for Training," taken by Helen Lee of the City of Sierra Vista, AZ; and "Bus Simulator Training," taken by Patty Boyd of DART First State, Wilmington, DE.

Federal Transit Administration Update
TRB Accepting Proposals for Transit IDEA Program Funding

The Transportation Research Board (TRB) has issued an RFP for the Transit Innovations Deserving Exploratory Analysis (IDEA) Program. Awards are made up to $100,000 for early development and testing of cutting-edge and unproven concepts and ideas that will advance the transit industry. The due date for submitting Transit IDEA proposals has been extended to May 10, 2013. 
ESPA Invites Applications for Accessible Transportation Technical Support Project

Easter Seals Project ACTION is currently accepting applications for their Accessible Transportation Technical Support Project. Successful applicants will receive direct assistance from ESPA in developing a comprehensive plan for advancing accessible transportation within their communities.
