GAO Reports on ADA Paratransit Services, Funding for New Starts and Small Starts

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) has released three new reports. Two relate to ADA paratransit services. The first is entitled, ADA Paratransit Services: Demand Has Increased, but Little is Known about Compliance. The report found that although ADA paratransit trips are on the rise, there is little oversight as to compliance of grantees by the FTA. Its supplemental survey report, Survey of Public Transit Agency Officials on Services and Costs, shows actual questions and compiled answers from a survey taken by ADA paratransit operators.

A third report examines funding for New Starts and Small Starts Projects from 2004 until 2012. The GAO studied the extent to which non-New Starts funding was used to fund a percentage of New Starts, Small Starts, and Very Small Starts during this period.
