Photo Contest Entries Due June 30th
A last-minute reminder to submit a photo to the 2012 photo contest, ending at midnight on June 30th. The photo must be submitted by, or on behalf of the photographer, be accompanied by consent-release forms from the photographer and any identifiable persons in the picture, and depict an aspect of partnerships in rural or Tribal transit. First place will receive a Canon Photoshot S9, and second place will receive a 250 dollar American Express Gift Cheque. Send entries to [email protected], and call 888-589-6821. White House Champions of Change Seeking Nominations
The White House Office of Public Engagement, along with the US Department of Transportation, seeks nominations of Transportation Innovators for its weekly Champions of Change event. According to the Office of Public Engagement, "Transportation Innovators are individuals or organizations who have provided exemplary leadership in the growth and expansion of the transportation industry at the local, state or regional level."  Nominations must be submitted by July 3rd to [email protected], and must be sent on a form, which is provided in National RTAP's Resource Library. 
NTD Census Updates Webinar
For those of you who missed the NTI webinar on NTD Census 2010 Updates, particularly those who are newly part of an urbanized area, the recording will be available on NTI's site  on or after July 3rd. A second webinar will take place on July 19, 2012, meant as an informative session only, since the July 15th deadline for NTD data submission will have passed. Innovative Transit Workforce Development Program NOFA
The FTA has issued a Notice of Funding Availability for the Innovative Transit Workforce Development Program. The aim of the funding is to encourage transit agencies to develop creative ways of hiring, educating, and training the transit workforce. A skilled workforce will ensure the competitiveness, efficiency and growth of the transit system in the United States. Transit agencies and other entities that develop solutions to bolster the transit workforce are encouraged to apply by July 6th. Applications must be submitted through grants.gov, and further information can be found by contacting Betty Jackson, FTA Office of Research and Innovation, at [email protected], or (202) 366-1730. Secretary LaHood Blogs About Rural and Tribal Transit TIGER Projects

Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood recently blogged about the $120 million worth of TIGER grants that have gone to rural and Tribal transportation projects. Highlighting several key projects in Gallatin County, Montana, Muskegon County, Michigan, and in South Dakota's Yankton Sioux Tribal territory, LaHood touched upon the greater need for rural and Tribal communities to build access to jobs, healthcare, and other opportunities.
