Last Call to Enter National RTAP's Photo Contest
Send us your winning photo! You still have until June 30th to enter the 2012 National RTAP Photo Contest. You could win a Canon Powershot S90. Send up to two digital photos depicting an aspect of partnership and collaboration in your rural or Tribal transit system to [email protected]. Whether you capture your transit team, dispatcher, customer on a bus or transit manager, we want to see and share your photography on partnership and coordination! CTAA Offers Online PASS Basic Training Course
The Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA) has launched an online PASS (Passenger Service and Safety) Basic Training module. PASS offers "comprehensive training on the assistance that drivers should be providing to passengers with special need." Based on the PASS driver and trainer certification program, the online course offers 6 modules that cover subjects including customer service, ADA, service animals, evacuation procedures, wheelchairs, bloodborne pathogens, and disability awareness. The course is offered at a rate of $25 for CTAA members, and $50 for others. Visit CTAA's Online Course page for more information.

National Dump the Pump Day is June 21st

The American Public Transportation Association (APTA), The Sierra Club, the National Resources Defense Committee (NRDC), and many state and local transportation systems around the country are sponsoring activities for National Dump the Pump Day. The purpose of Dump the Pump Day is to raise awareness of public transit and encourage more people to ride transit in the face of rising gas prices and dependence on fossil fuels. Mark Your Calenders! The 20th Annual RIBC is Just a Few Months Away
The 20th Annual Rural and Intercity Bus Conference will take place in Salt Lake City, UT, from October 14-17. National RTAP is sponsoring the once-every-two-years conference along with the FTA, Utah DOT, and the Utah Urban Rural Specialized Transit Association (UURSTA). TRB Presents Transportation for Livable Communities Conference Proceedings
The Transportation Research Board (TRB) recently released Transportation for Livable Communities, Conference Proceedings on the Web 6, a summary of a 2010 conference that explored livability in transportation programs. NTI Offers Managing Community Mobility Course
For anyone who has a stake in mobility management, the National Transit Institute (NTI) is putting on a two-day in-person training to address solutions to providing better service to riders who need it. The training will be of interest to mobility managers, transportation professionals, and human service providers who want to explore creative ways of tackling mobility management problems and finding solutions.
