FTA Deadline to Submit Tribal Transit Program Grant Applications is May 10
Grant applications for the Public Transportation on Indian Reservations, Tribal Transit Program are due by May 10. The FTA has authorized $15 million for this program in FY2012, subject to the availability of funds from Congress. Proposals must be submitted electronically through grants.gov. FTA Launches Research Digest
The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has released the first issue of its Research Digest publication, summarizing reports and news of interest to public transportation. The issues will include research in progress sponsored by the FTA, recent reports issued by the FTA relating to public transportation, government initiatives and technology aimed at reducing energy use in public transit, and transportation research at universities. The Research Digest will also summarize news stories related to coordinated transportation for rural and targeted populations, and asset management and State of Good Repair. Online Dialogue on Veterans Transportation Hosted by ESPA
Easter Seals Project ACTION (ESPA) has partnered with the FTA to host an online dialogue concerning veterans' transportation. Veterans returning to civilian life face unique transportation challenges as they merge back into their communities. The Obama Administration has recently committed $60 million for projects that enhance veterans' access to transportation. Easter Seals Project ACTION invites all personal and professional stakeholders to participate in the "National Online Dialogue on Veterans Transportation" discussion. Sponsored by The Federal Coordinating Council on Access and Mobility and the U.S. Department of Defense, the dialogue will occur between May 7 and June 8 on ESPA's website.
