FTA Fiscal Year 2012 Apportionments, Allocations, and Program Information Published
The Federal Transit Administration's (FTA) usually annual list of program information and apportionments is now available. This notice is the first notice announcing partial apportionment for programs funded with Fiscal Year (FY) 2012 contract authority because the current authorization of FTA's programs provides contract authority for the period October 1, 2011 through March 31, 2012. This notice also provides program guidance and requirements, and provides information on several program issues important under the current program authorization. VA is Seeking Comments for Grants for Transportation of Veterans in Highly Rural Areas
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is proposing to establish a new program to provide grants to assist veterans in highly rural areas (county or counties having a population of less than seven persons per square mile) through innovative transportation services to travel to VA medical centers, and to assist in providing transportation services in connection with VA medical care to these veterans. Eligible recipients are defined as either Veterans Service Organizations, or state veterans service agencies. In order to implement this program, the VA is seeking public comment to the rules they have proposed. The VA is looking for input such as scoring criteria and reporting guidelines. 20th National Conference on Rural Public and Intercity Bus Transportation Call for Presentations
The Conference Committee for the 20th National Conference on Rural Public and Intercity Bus Transportation announces a call for presentations to provide information and training on best practice and current research in rural public and intercity bus transportation. The target audience for the conference includes rural transit and human service transit providers, tribal transit managers, planners, state transportation and human service agency staff, intercity bus operators, consultants, researchers, trainers and others with an interest in rural transportation.
