Greetings!

This has been a busy month for Hymn Society activities. I've just returned from a trip to New Orleans working on plans for our annual conference in 2015.  It's interesting to work on three conferences simutaneously!!  Of course this summer's program is getting most of our attention, but the program committee is working diligently on our meeting in Columbus, Ohio for July 13-17, 2014 and the work is starting on facilities arrangements and overall logistics for our gathering two years hence in New Orleans July 12-16, 2015.  It's not too early for you to reserve those dates on your calendar!!

Be sure to register early for our conference this summer in Richmond.  Prices go up May 1, so take advantage of lower registration fees while you can.

Correction to the printed brochure found in your journal:  the correct phone number for the travel agent is 888-429-0229.

We already have over 80 registrants!  Don't miss the fun, fellowship, learning and singing this summer!!

Meanwhile, keep singing!!

Sweeping changes have occurred in hymnody over the past fifty years.  Protestant and Catholic churches alike have embraced new music, new styles, and new genres of congregational song.  We are heir to a tremendous burst of liturgical creativity that enriches our worship. Join us to explore how a rich cross-fertilization continues to inspire a new generation of writers.

Registration is open online!

His music reflects an understanding of the multicultural needs of the contemporary church as well as a commitment to strong ritual music.  Having recently served as a church musician in a multicultural Roman Catholic congregation in California, Tony is now pursuing a PhD in the Graduate Division of Religion at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, where he is focusing on liturgical and ritual studies.
