MM&I Header

June 9, 2014 - Is your past dictating your future? Are you spending a significant amount of time wishing you had handled something from the past in a different way? Are you revisiting your past decisions or past actions over and over again in order to determine what went wrong or did not transpired as you had hoped or planned? Are you having a difficult time letting go of certain feelings or resentments about a past situation? If you answered "Yes" to any of these questions, you are allowing your past to dictate your future by either taking your focus away from your ability to progress or keeping you caught in the past instead of embracing the present. The end result is a future that is not as you had hoped, causing you to be in an endless cycle of hindsight guilt versus foresight empowerment.

Take an MM&I Moment to ask yourself how valuable it is to spend your time belaboring a situation within your mind or with others over and over again.  Cut to the core of the matter and focus instead on what you have learned from your past situation. Try to see a benefit from what transpired that you have been too emotionally invested to see.  How have you become wiser? How have you become more knowledgeable? How have you gained insight that you did not possess before?  Instead of asking yourself why something has happened TO you, ask instead why it may have happened FOR you. When you take a step back with a perspective of moving beyond a situation with insight, you then can move forward with confidence, with no regrets, and with forward-thinking action.

Synergized Quote of the Week

"You are always free to change your mind and choose a different future, or a different past." - Richard Bach

Savvy Secret Tip of the Week

Does marketing feel more like a chore than a welcome aspect of running your business? Does implementing your marketing seem to take forever, with no real understanding about measuring the results to be gained? Is your marketing a hit-or-miss, or "when you get around to it" activity in your business? If you answered "Yes" to any of these questions, then chances are you also are not realizing the growth or continuous flow of business you desire either. Marketing is an operational function, not an optional function. It should be incorporated into your daily way of doing business, and if it is not, then you are doing you and your business a disservice.  To learn what growth companies understand about marketing as an operational aspect of business, read Secrets #3 (Beyond Capabilities), #4 (Budgeting for Growth), #5 (Profit Sizing), #7 (Strategy into the Plan), #12 (Systemized Marketing), #25 (Circles of Influence), #30 (Optimization), and #47 through #50 (CRISP Principle: Formulas for Success) in my book, 50 Marketing Secrets. FIVE YEARS OF MONDAY MOTIVATION & INSIGHT!: Today marks the 261st Monday Motivation & Insight to hit in-boxes since June of 2009. Monday Motivations are now global, transmitting to five continents including Africa, Asia, North America, South America and Europe. Even though best practices say an email blast should never go out on a Monday morning, we have proven that with a clear purpose, strategic branding, and solid content to back it up, rules can most certainly be broken. But then, isn't that the entrepreneurial way? It is my pleasure to bring these insights to you each week. The responses and continued appreciation I receive from all of you with everything from " Thanks, I needed that today!" to "It's like you are inside my head!" validates that a little insight and reflective guidance goes a long, long way! THANK YOU for being my source of inspiration and purpose with each keystroke!
