MM&I Header

April 21, 2014 - Are there things you are passionate about that you feel you must put on the back burner because of your current obligations? Do you have some hidden passions that you may not even be aware of because you are so focused on what needs to be done, should be done, or has to be done?  People who allow their passions to shine through in the work that they do and the way that they live also are more productive, satisfied and exhilarated with each new day. If you feel you must bury or hide your passions, or even wonder what you are passionate about, it is time to embrace the true power you have within yourself to experience life and work as you ultimately desire it to be.

Take an MM&I Moment to forget about all your obligations, expectations from others, and expectations from yourself, and the list what you simply love to do, be a part of, experience or enjoy. Think about the things that bring an instant smile to your face. Think about the activities that you wish would never end when you do them. Think about what makes you feel alive, excited, empowered, motivated, satisfied, and gratified. Think about what you would most like to share with others whom you enjoy being with and love. Now look at these items and stop thinking that you must wait. Start incorporating even the smallest aspects of them into your everyday life ... at home ... at work ... and with others. I guarantee you will be amazed at how your life will transform. We were all meant to be passionate beings.

Savvy Secret Tip of the Week

Is your business being remembered for the wrong reasons? OR are you intentionally making "being memorable" a part of your promotional and appeal strategy?  Too many businesses lose sight of the simplest things that can be done and that can make them stand out against competitors. Growth companies embrace service and solutions with gusto because they know, as a whole, most others are screwing up these two aspects. There are many other little and market-changing things you could be doing in your business to be remembered in all the right ways. To learn more, read Secrets #2 (Memorable Experience), #13 (Masters of Mindshare), #15 (Connecting Customers), #16 (Rewards vs. Incentives), #18 (The Personal Touch), #20 (Celebration & Recognition), and #21 (The WOW Factor) in my book, 50 Marketing Secrets. To order the book, CLICK HERE!

"CORPORATE CURE" BEING PRESENTED ON MAY 5TH: My client, John Owens, the founder of Ameritrust and Owens Management Group, will be the dinner speaker presenting "Corporate Cure: What it Takes To Build a Company of Endurance" to the Institute of Management Consultants (IMC) of the Carolinas on May 5th at their Regional Meeting, which is being held at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, NC. I was a part of the development team who designed and beta tested the Corporate Culture Assessment tool called CURx. John's book, Corporate Cure, will also be coming out in pre-publication copies this summer and will be nationally released late 2014 or early 2015. If you are interested in registering to attend IMC Carolinas' Regional Meeting, non-members are welcome to attend. This is a can't-miss program! CLICK HERE to get more information and to register.  CLICK HERE to learn more about the CURx Assessment.

TEACHING "HOW DO I MARKET MY BUSINESS" IN SALISBURY ON MAY 6: I will be at the North RCCC Campus in Salisbury, NC, to conduct a workshop for the Small Business Center entitled "How Do I Market My Business." Back by popular demand, I always look forward to sharing the marketing secrets of growth companies based on the CRISP Principle shared in my book, 50 Marketing Secrets, as well as other value-added insights based on my 30 years of working with successful entrepreneurs all over the country. The course is in the evening from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at 1333 Jake Alexander Blvd. Thanks to funding from the Small Business Administration, the course is free, but you must register in advance to attend. ARE YOU COUNTING BREATHS OR MOMENTS?:
My April Me, Myself & Inc. column in Sophie Woman's Magazine is a very personal reflection while paying tribute to a woman whom I admired deeply, Lynne Rahe Byrd. A special gift she gave me and her meaningful words inspired this writing that was waiting for the right moment to be shared. I hope it will make you pause to reflect, as well, on how each of us can embrace every day by counting and creating treasured moments in our lives and the lives of others. To read the column, CLICK HERE and go to page 29.

ARE TOO MANY HATS SLOWING YOUR MOMENTUM? In my April BizGrowth 5.0 column, I tackle the issue of wearing too many hats or the wrong hat, but from a different angle than expected. Read the column by CLICKING HERE to see if your business' momentum has been losing its zeal as a result of these five issues.

ARE YOUR STANDARDS SENDING THE WRONG MESSAGE?: In my March BizGrowth 5.0 column, I shared five areas where entrepreneurs may be causing more harm than good. See if your company is practicing any of these missteps with regard to standards, processes and procedures by CLICKING HERE.
