MM&I Header

February 24, 2014 -   Have you never really had goals for yourself, but have achieved success without them? Or have you reached a point in your life or your career where you don't feel it is necessary to always be chasing this goal or that goal? The word "ambition" has gotten misconstrued into something that is viewed as a negative attribute, which is unfortunate.  The definition of ambition begins with having an earnest desire. The dictionary defines someone who is ambitious as someone who possesses a strong desire, has eagerness, and puts exceptional effort and ability toward achieving what is desired.  For those of you who believe you have never really had goals, isn't living with satisfaction a goal? Better yet, living a life that is enjoyable and satisfying is most likely your ultimate goal. If you feel that you need to slow down and not focus on goals anymore, then this is a goal. What does that look like and feel like to you?

Take an MM&I Moment to pause and assess your current situation. What do you ultimately desire? What are you passionate about seeing through to reality? What excites you and motivates you the most? There is nothing negative about having ambition or being ambitious. Ambition is not something you turn off and on or need to find in yourself.  It exists in you and can thrive within you if you simply take a look at what is most important to you right now and what you want to realize for yourself. Ambition is and should be at the heart of your existence because being ambitious in combination with being passionate helps you create an amazing life for yourself that not only everyone around you loves and enjoys, but you cherish.
