February 3, 2014 - Are you a self-proclaimed workaholic, or a reluctant workaholic? Is your work and career a satisfying aspect of your life or merely a job? If you are a self-proclaimed workaholic, is it because you prefer to focus your time and energy on your work because you find greater satisfaction from it than you do from other aspects of your life? If so, consider why other aspects of your life are not fulfilling and what you could do to realize more satisfaction in your overall life. If you are a reluctant workaholic, are your work demands making you feel as though you have no life outside of work, adding to your frustration? Fulfillment should be as rich and satisfying for you personally as it is professionally.
Take an MM&I Moment to assess your workaholic situation. If you love what you do, and therefore don't mind working endless hours, take a moment to consider the ways you could find the same level of enjoyment outside of work with your family, friends and activities. If you are not gaining satisfaction in your personal life, what can you do to nurture a different reality than what you are currently experiencing? If your work is all consuming, which is not to your liking, how can you take charge of and change your situation to gain some of your life back? In every moment, you have a choice to allow, accept or evolve your current circumstance. Always choose to evolve anything that isn't what you ultimately desire.
