MM&I Header

August 19, 2013 -  Have you recently felt as though a myriad of little things has happened that have accumulated into a big distraction for you? Have unplanned or unexpected little things occurred that are consuming your thinking? Are you continuing to think about or talk about them, adding further to your distraction?  Too often, when small annoyances occur, we get too caught up in the annoyance and do not see the opportunity in the occurrence having happened. We also are not using these moments to help us truly understand what we may need to better know and understand about ourselves.

Take an MM&I Moment to attempt to explore the opportunity in these small challenges versus feeling only the frustration. Delays in traffic, having to look for your keys, an unexpected phone call as you were leaving, an inconvenient request for assistance - whatever it is for you, try to see what could possibly be the underlying opportunity for awareness or refocus. For instance, instead of allowing a delay in traffic to stress you, make the necessary phone call to confirm the delay and then use the time to better prepare for the meeting in your mind, or determine alternative routes for the future. Ask yourself if the small challenge is truly a distraction or if you are allowing it to avoid having to do something else you need to be doing. Ask yourself if the challenge is actually bringing you enlightenment to be better aware, prepared, knowledgeable, or even more patient. Once you shift to trying to see the opportunity in even the smallest challenge, you will soon find yourself saying it was a blessing in disguise.

Synergized Quote of the Week

"Once we begin to see, we are challenged to seek the strength to see more, not less." - Arthur Miller

Savvy Secret Tip of the Week

Why is a relationship mindset better in marketing? When you are in a transaction mindset, you get caught up in inking the deal, which makes you leave the prospect or customer feeling like a mere means to an end versus a meaningful beginning. When you focus on the customer first, ongoing opportunities will transpire with them versus that single transaction.
