August 12, 2013 - Are everyone's busy lives amidst your attempt to live yours making you feel a bit lost, and as if no one is paying attention? Are you frustrated and getting tired of unanswered emails ... unreturned phone calls ... difficulty scheduling appointments or meetings ... lack of follow-up or responses ... indecision or delays ... and uncertainty what to do next due to an inability to make progress through everyone else's lack of attention? While you cannot control what others do or don't do, you can control what you do. Instead of allowing others to put you in a state of limbo or irritation, allow yourself to focus on what you can do instead of what you cannot seem to do. Instead of feeling lost in the shuffle, find your way to empowerment.
Take an MM&I Moment to list some of the ways you are feeling lost, frustrated or uncertain. Now instead of focusing on what is making you feel unable to do anything, list even the simplest thing you could do on your own. If someone is being unresponsive, could someone else assist you equally as effectively? If there are delays or indecision, is there another aspect of the situation you can move forward in the meantime? Finally, consider if what you perceive is really what is occurring. Oftentimes in our impatience to keep things moving, we can assume what is not at all the case. Focus on the facts and perhaps what you will realize is that you are spending more time fretting about what has yet to occur. The freedom you will feel in realizing this is the freedom to do what you know that you can do.
Synergized Quote of the Week
"Our fatigue is often caused not by work, but by worry, frustration and resentment." - Dale Carnegie
Savvy Secret Tip of the Week
Don't let the current economic landscape or competitive pressures make you think you must cast your net wider to catch new customers or more sales. Our research has shown that businesses as a whole do a poor job in effectively informing existing customers in an ongoing manner about offerings and also do a poor job in effectively identifying and targeting additional markets which would buy repackaged or existing offerings within their current geographic footprint. Growth companies understand both of these very well, hence why they are growing in spite of a recession or more intense competition. To learn how you can better engage customers and ways to leverage what you already have, read Secrets #10 (Repackaged & Delivered), #13 (Masters of Mindshare), #15 (Connecting Customers), and #17 (Informing Customers) in my book, 50 Marketing Secrets.
