Stunning scenery surrounds Hollywood Beach Golf Resort & Eco Golf Club
Seasonal Sunpatiens have been planted surrounding the grounds at both Eco Golf Club and Hollywood Beach Golf Resort.Impatiens are the old favorites for homeowners, golf course superintendents and landscapers for decades. Unfortunately they have fallen out of favor because of a fungus know as "Downy Mildew" . The main symptom show stress of lack of water but they are actually being eaten by the fungi. You can treat them but it can be very costly.  Sunpatiens are a completely new type of impatiens that thrive in the heat and sun and provide three seasons of bold beautiful colors in the southern climate of South Florida. They are also resistant to the downy mildew fungus.
Watering regularly in the morning and applying a liquid fertilizer 2 to 3 times per month designed for these types of flowers will assure lasting bountiful flowers for months enduring a prolonged seasons of South Florida weather.
We are proud to say between Hollywood Beach Golf Resort and Eco Golf Club, Jeff Sudden, Superintendent of both golf courses and his crew have planted over two thousand flowers throughout the grounds.

The Hollywood Women's Club Celebrated the Holiday Season with a Cocktail Party
Hollywood Women's Club held their Holiday Cocktail Part y at Rudy's Restaurant & Pub located at Hollywood Beach Golf Resort on Wednesday, December 12th. Over 50 guests rang in the holiday season. Music, food and drinks were enjoyed by all and over 40 amazing gifts were raffled off. A very special thank you to Sally Portillo, owner of House of Willow located in downtown Hollywood for donating great little gift boxes. This month we are going to focus on the factors in the swing that influence both distance and direction. The more we understand why the ball goes where it does, the easier it will be to make the adjustments needed to hit it longer and straighter. Distance has three primary factors and direction, two that can be controlled by human performance. The three primary factors that influence distance are: (1) club head speed (2) centeredness of contact (3) angle of approach. The first factor, club head speed, is influenced by 5 factors including physical strength and body flexibility. The second factor, centeredness of contact, will effect distance because off center shots produce a glancing blow that transfers less energy to the ball. The third factor, angle of approach, also affects the distance the ball travels with a steeper approach angle creating more backspin, more lift, and overall less distance. The two factors which primarily influence direction are the swing path and clubface position. All ball flight direction is a result of the relationship of these two elements at the moment of impact with the ball. Face position will influence the flight of the ball more than the swing path because it has more possibility for variation. I hope this helps you to better understand the dynamics of distance and direction so you can hit it long and straight! |

John McCall Memorial Tournament
The John McCall Memorial Golf Scramble tournament was held on Saturday Nov. 10th with a field of 85 players in attendance.
Mr. McCall was a teacher at Cooper City High School who passed away 3 years ago. In the last year of his life, McCall was plagued with kidney complications that were both painful and resistant to treatment but he never lost his passion for teaching or his students. He was still in the classroom weeks before his death despite his discomfort.
John McCall touched many people's lives and many hold the lessons that he taught them very close to their hearts. McCall not only dedicated his life to educating the next generation, but he wanted his students to appreciate life. The event, in it's second year, has been held to honor Mr. McCall and to raise funds for various programs at the school. With several departments at the school involved, including the math, science, foreign language, english and social studies departments acting as holes sponsors, the event was a huge success.
Special thanks go out to all participants and sponsors for their support of this important event. We look forward to seeing you all next year for the 2nd annual tournament!

The Goodtimers Celebrated their
24 Annual Holiday Party!
After 24 years of playing golf every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Hollywood Beach Golf Resort The Goodtimers are still rolling strong! They get together each year for their annual holiday dinner celebration. This year they held it on Thursday, December 13, 2012. 45 guests attended, dined on Prime Rib, Chicken Piccata and Seafood Cartoccio ending with Chef Carlo's homemade Tiramisu. The evening was filled with holiday cheer, raffles and those great "almost - hole in one" stories. We appreciate your loyalty to our club throughout the year! HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILIES.
