A Phenomenal
turn out for a GREAT cause!
The Inaugural "Golf for Kidney's Sake" tournament was held on Saturday Oct. 6th, with a great turnout for the first year event. The event was organized by our golf shop assistant, Denise McWeeney, along with PGA Director of Golf Paul Steward to benefit Denise's close friend Steve Kertesz, who is on two kidney transplant lists. Steve is a Florida State Corrections Officer who works 40 hours a week and spends another 30 hours a week at night in dialysis. "When Denise approached me with the idea of this tournament I immediately said "yes, let's do it" as my mom was in dialysis for almost 10 years and I knew we needed to do anything we could to help Steve out" says Paul. With almost 80 players in attendance the tournament was a huge success in helping Steve out with additional costs not covered by his insurance along with raising awareness for organ donation. Special "thanks" go out to all players! We were able to raise $3,400 for Steve and two people signed up to become organ donors. I am really looking forward to doing it again next year! from Denise, Paul and Steve.

 Trinity Lutheran School
Trinity Lutheran School's annual charity Golf Tournament was held on Saturday Oct. 13th under somewhat cloudy conditions. With a full field of 130 players, this years event was almost double in size compared to last year. Hard work by Mr. Cliff Berry and his committee paid off in increasing the turnout and all participants had a great time despite the less then ideal conditions. The format for this event was a 4 man scramble with the team from National Chemical placing first with a score of 12 under 58. Congratulations go out to them for their fine play and special thanks to all participants for their support of Trinity Lutheran School.
We look forward to host next years charity event.

Golf Crest photo- PGA Director of Golf Paul Steward has started a new program with the residents of Golf Crest Healthcare Center starting in Nov. "I was approached by Sheri Feldman who is the rehabilitation director at Golf Crest to bring some of their residents out for a clinic once a month.
Most of these individuals have physical issues and do not know a lot about the game so the rewards are two fold, they get to learn more about this great game along with helping their rehabilitation process. The residents are so excited to get started when they arrive and I've had a lot of fun working with them. Our last session we had a gentleman who is 95 years young and had not touched a club in over 20 years. It was amazing to see his eyes light up when we got a club back in his hands. " explains Paul. Hollywood Beach Golf Resort looks forward to the next outing with these folks.
