 THOUGHTS AS WE RETURN

Every August I begin to really, really miss our regular worshipping congregation! I hope all of you have had a bit of rest this beautiful summer!

Over the years we have tried various methods to entice our normal (Sept-May) attendees to stay with us during the summer. We have tried different worship styles, sermon jokes, worship times, adding Sunday School, etc. I have come to accept that this is the rhythm of this parish and so I concentrate on what is to come! Welcome back!

I'll be starting my Bible study class again in October. The first class will be on Tuesday, October 7 at 11am in the Guiteras House.

I'm also offering something new this year, called Ponder with the Pastor. This is a group where you can come to share your questions, get to know each other and develop your faith. I'll have an "I am interested" sign up sheet in the DeWolf Room and in several inserts at the start of the year. Key questions are: When and Where? Think outside the box! I think this could be a very interesting group for our congregation.

We will be receiving new members in the Fall. We have several families interested and I will be working with the Deacons to find good dates for a membership class and new member Sunday!

Helen and the CE team are ready to go! Come see why our Church School is the "talk of the Town." It is the place to be for so many reasons.

Can't wait to see you in church!

Every blessing,

Pastor Dan

School has begun! To make sure that our students start off the year on the right foot we will celebrate a "Blessing of the Backpacks" on Sunday, September 14 - RALLY DAY!. Pastor Dan will bless the backpacks, book bags, brief cases, and other school supply carriers brought to church by any child, teacher, or school worker. CHURCH SCHOOL CHATTER

Church School

I look forward to joining in worship with you on September 14th, Rally Day, 2014, when we will begin our Church School year!  To make sure that our students and teachers start off the year on the right foot we will celebrate a "Blessing of the Backpacks", in the sanctuary during worship.  Pastor Dan will bless the backpacks, book bags, brief cases, and other school supply carriers brought to church that morning.

On Sunday, September 21st we will have Teacher Dedication during worship. You will get to see who your children will be with this year as we bless them and dedicate our children to their care.  We are so fortunate to have such loving and caring individuals who give so much of themselves for others.

On Sunday, September 28th I will be holding Acolyte Training for any student in 3rd grade and up who is interested in bringing the light and the word of God into the sanctuary on Sunday mornings. Training will be held in the sanctuary at 11:15am.  If your child is already an Acolyte and would like to continue to be this year, just let me know and I will keep them on the list, they do not have to attend training again.

As you can see we are ready to start our church school year.  It will be great to gather on Rally Day, see you there!

We are still looking for a few teachers and aids, please see me if you are interested.

"Among the great and glorious gifts our heavenly Father sends

is the gift of understanding that we find in loving friends..."

Blessings,

Helen Sousa

3rd Annual Church Has Left the Building Sunday - OCTOBER 26th!

church has left building 2

ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 26th we will hold our 3rd Annual Church Has Left the Building Day! This is a day in which we gather as usual for worship, but quickly go out and do good things in our town, including working at local agencies, parks, museums, nursing homes, and evening cleaning windows for Hope Street merchants. It is a fun, multi-generational day. Look for a sign up sheet with locations for this year. We will need a "captain" for each location. Also - if you have some ideas for new locations please let us know!

BOOKING MEETINGS AT FCC

Please call the office (253-7288) before you schedule a meeting in one of the meeting rooms of the church or Guiteras House. The room you may think is available may have already been booked. We have a lot of groups and committees using rooms during the week and have already made arrangements for the room.  It would not be fair if someone comes in without a reservation.
