OUR NEW V-Piano Grand is HERE!!
DEDICATION OF THE NEW PIANO IS SUNDAY MAY 5!
With its groundbreaking approach to grand-piano modeling, and incredibly realistic sound, touch, and response, Roland's V-Piano has earned many international awards and accolades since its debut in 2009. It has become the #1 choice for many of the most discerning pianists on the planet. So how does the V-Piano evolve? Introducing the V-Piano Grand! Built into an elegant grand-piano cabinet, and with a unique, multi-channel sound system that reacts naturally and intelligently to your performance, this exquisite instrument blurs the line between digital and acoustic worlds. Stepping up from the previous generation, the V-Piano Grand's sound generator has been further refined, and new piano models have been added to the onboard library. Welcome to a new world of performance, sophistication, and musical innovation.

WOMEN'S GUILD...
Previously known as Missionary Society)
Many years ago, there were three Women's organizations, "Third Circle, ProChristo and Women's Missionary". The Bazaar income was divided thus. Half went to the church, and the other half was divided into thirds to the three organizations. The Third Circle used theirs for church purposes. The ProChristo and Missionary organization allocated their income to missionary needs. Due to lack of membership and needs, the Third Circle dismantled. The remainder was divided in half. ProChristo disbanded for the same reason, leaving half of the bazaar income to Women's Missions.
We will allocate our half to various missionary needs and occasionally to church needs as per original plan; hence, "legality" for spending some on church needs. However, now we have the Church Council and they fund the church needs. What we need is guidance in the matter of who pays for what and have it set down in writing.
The Women's Guild was given yarn, fabric and notions for anyone to use for the making of items to be sold at the Bazaar to benefit the church. So, if you like to help us make things to be sold, please come and check out the many donated fabrics, yarns and other things to see if you can use them to help the church. You can come during office hours.
------------------------------------------------------SUNDAY HOSPITALITY...
Hospitality is asking for your PARTICIPATION. They are looking for homemade or store bought goodies for Sunday. Helpful hands for setup and break down would be greatly appreciated. Please see sign up sheet in the DeWolf room if you can help out or let Sug Grant know. If you can't help, please make sure you contribute to the "kitty" so someone can purchase a goody for you to eat on Sunday. Thank You.
Thank you to all who donate and help by bringing in treats. It is nice to have help. If you can help, please do.
See sign-up sheet in the DeWolf Room.

ECUMENICAL MEALS...
Jesus said, "Feed my sheep." (John 21:17)
Our church's participation in the Ecumenical Meals ministry is an important part of our effort to feed the elderly and infirm in our community. People receiving Meals-on-Wheels during the week have no deliveries of meals to them on weekends except for Ecumenical Meals.
We work in conjunction with four churches.
In addition to preparing meals that people can eat over the weekend, the meals must be delivered on Saturday mornings.
April was our month for preparing these meals.
This program is important because it allows people to continue living in their homes. Without it, they would be forced to move into assisted living or nursing homes, which could be cost-prohibitive in some cases.
MAY IS OUR MONTH TO HELP OUT!
Your help in cooking and delivering these meals is really appreciated.
Thank you so much.

19th-Century Rhode Island in 3-D
On June 6
th
from 6:30 - 8:00 PM, the Herreshoff Room of Bristol's Rogers Library will be transformed into a giant stereopticon, bringing to life the 19
th
century world of Bristol, Warren, East Providence and Providence. Local historian and preservation consultant Ned Connors will be your guide for an evening of photographic time travel. Vintage stereo images from the Rhode Island Historical Society's collection will be projected onto a large silver screen. 3-D glasses will be provided.
When stereo photography first gained popularity, it was a parlor entertainment that used a handheld viewing instrument called a stereopticon. New technology allows us to take these historical 3D images, convert them to transparency, and project them for public viewing.
Don't miss this unique perspective on local history. The event is free and open to all. Donations for the Rhode Island Historical Society will be accepted.
(At least one historic image of First Congregational Church taken soon after construction will be shown.)
Fundraiser Fiesta!
May 10th
2013
Potluck Supper
At 6pm
In the DeWolf room.
Fundraiser Fiesta - Many Hands Make Light Work!!!
We are hosting a Potluck Supper to showcase the many opportunities for Congregation Members to help support the church with Time & Talent.
During dinner, we will be discussing the different Fundraising events that we hold during the year and encouraging members to find an event or two that they can support in some way, either by filling a role or a timeslot. This is critical to the life & mission of our church, because the more money we raise to support Operations, the more we can spend on Missions!
Please join us on May 10th at 6 pm and bring your favorite dish!
Sign up sheet is located in the DeWolf room.

certificate for "Toys Are Us", so please look around.
VIP: I am asking that all those who so graciously helped last year, to please help again this
year as many hands make the load light. We can ALWAYS use more help if you are willing
and able to do so, so please let me know. This is a great chance to socialize with your church
friends and meet other friends as well.

Please call the office (253-7288) before you schedule a meeting in one of the meeting rooms of the church or Guiteras House. The room you may think is available may have already been booked. We have a lot of groups and committees using rooms during the week who have already made arrangements for the room. It would not be fair if someone comes in without a reservation.
