Rutgers Achieves Double-digit Gain in Research Grants and Contracts
Despite cutbacks in federal support, Rutgers achieved an 18.3 percent increase in overall funding for research and sponsored programs in the last fiscal year over the 
previous year, from $517.6 million in fiscal year 2014 up to $612.5 million in FY2015.  Rutgers researchers brought in 11.4 percent more federal dollars from 2014 ($272.1 million) to 2015 ($303.2 million), while overall research funding by most federal agencies was essentially flat from the prior year, according to Christopher J. Molloy, senior vice president for research and economic development. Read more here.

Limited Submission Funding Opportunities: Two NSF Partnerships for Innovation Program, ORAU Young Faculty Award
The NSF Partnerships for Innovation: Building Innovation Capacity program supports academe-industry partnerships led by an interdisciplinary academic research team collaborating with at least one industry partner. Each campus can submit two proposals; the New Brunswick campus deadline for pre-proposals is November 24. Read more here. The Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Awards provide seed money for research by junior faculty at ORAU member institutions. Rutgers can submit two proposals; the universitywide deadline for pre-proposals is November 23. Read more here

Tech Day, a New Jersey Technology Council Event, at Rutgers December 9

Rutgers faculty and staff can attend the NJTC Tech Day, which is "three major events wrapped into one," December 9 on the College Avenue Student Center, free of charge. Tech Day starts with a Global Commercialization Conference at 9 a.m., an Incubator Showcase at noon, and the Data Summit at 2:30 p.m. For free registration, email [email protected] or Paul Frank at NJTC.
The Apple Research Kit
A session will be held December 9 on the Apple Research Kit, an open-source-code tool kit released by Apple Inc. last spring to help investigators design iPhone apps for clinical research. It will be held in the IRB Office located at 335 George St., New Brunswick, from 12 to 1 p.m. Please bring your own lunch. Read more here.
