Tourism Talk
Hello!

Let me take a minute to introduce myself as the newest staff member at Tourism Saskatoon! I will be filling in for Paula over the next six months as the Membership Coordinator, as she takes on a six month term as our Leisure Marketing Coordinator.

August is in full swing and there is no shortage of things to see and do this month! The Rock 102 Show & Shine, Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan, Folkfest and Ukrainian Day in the Park are all must see's!

Getting into September, check out the Broadway Street Fair on the 8th or the Thoroughbred Horse Racing at Marquis Downs on the 14th!

Enjoy the month of August and have a great September long weekend!

Cheers,

Kelsey Slorstad
Membership Coordinator

River Lights Success

Saskatoon's newest summer festival, The Dakota Dunes River Lights Festival, wrapped up its third year during the last weekend of July. The three day event, taking place at River Landing, brought between 15,000 and 20,000 spectators. Saskatchewan native, Brad Johner and his band, the Johner Boys, closed out the show on the Friday night.

Saskatoon has always needed to showcase the South Saskatchewan River better and this festival is the perfect way to do that! We look forward to its following years!

Member Workshops

1. Last year's social media workshop was a huge success and this year, we want to bring it back! We will be offering an advanced workshop, focusing on one or two social media platforms.
Stay tuned for an invite in early fall for the chance to amp up your social media strategy and branding!

2. There have been some staff changes at Tourism Saskatoon so we wanted to offer a meet & greet workshop
in later fall giving you a chance to meet us and learn about each department! Stay tuned for more information!

Stretch Your Budget!

Odds are, whatever your marketing budget, you are trying to make every dollar count. Here is a list of five ways to stretch it to get the most bang for your buck!

1. Stick with what works - If your existing efforts are working, why switch it up simply because you get bored of the current campaign.

2. Don't overdo it - As soon as you have a bit more money to launch a campaign, most entrepreneurs get way too fancy with thick annual reports, gold embossed envelopes and full colour spreads. Keep it simple and deliver a concise message!

3. Pay on time - Take advantage of discounts by paying early and avoid those pesky late fees!

4. Don't overpay for outside creative talent - Fit the job and the budget. Unless you are running a spread in Business Week, you probably don't need to hire an expensive photographer.

5. Re-use existing content -
Photos, layouts and illustrations can be re-used in more than just one production. Don't be worried about overlap; consider using the same images from an advertising promotion in your internal communications.
