-NOTE FROM CORY-

My recent trip to Peru was such a joy!  As the parent of a young adult with special needs I have met many closed doors and "No" answers over the years in regards to my sons welfare.  Often times it was because of lack of funding, other times quite simply it was discrimination.  When I am able to say "Yes" to requests from our parents in developing countries there is a healing that comes to me.  A sense that I am saying yes to every parent that has met a closed door, been denied, and felt inadequate to provide or advocate for their child.

Thanks to a generous donation of $2400. that was designated specifically for Peru, we were able to purchase everything the parents and therapists listed as the current need.  And...................Thanks to the San Leandro based organization MEDSHARE I was able to bring a 50lb. suitcase of orthopedic and medical supplies for the cost of $75.00.

You have made it all possible!

AND......... ONCE AGAIN I HAVE BROUGHT BACK LOTS OF BEAUTIFUL JEWELRY, TAPESTRIES, PURSES, CHILDRENS SWEATERS AND GIFTS FROM PERU......

WHAT WE BOUGHT!

The small town of Chincha Baja, receives water up until about 1pm each afternoon.  Families gather water in containers to manage throughout the rest of the day.  The purchase of a 600 liter water storage tank for the center was of primary importance for them and we were happy to provide that.  In addition, we bought an E-stim therapy machine, a second treatment table, a cabinet for storage, desk, bookcase, various developmental puzzles and toys, a therapy mat, and office supplies along with a guitar, drum and  wind instruments for them to begin music therapy.

 Last meeting

 And thanks to MedShare,

I arrived with exercise equipment for shoulder, ankle and knee rehabilitation, braces, and orthopedic supplies for the center and diabetic testing equipment, a blood pressure monitor, and emergency splints which I delivered to the local health clinic.

Our partnership with MusicalMe (Music Together) has blossomed with results as we continue to serve students at  Soquel High School, Scotts Valley High,  San Lorenzo Valley, and Chrysalis pre-school for children with autism.   Our total cost to conduct three 10 week sessions for these children and teens over the course of the 2012/2013 school year is  a little more than $4000.  This means:

$5.00 buys one music class for a child
$50.00 buys a 10 week session for a child

Our sincere thanks to you,
