Mariaclose

When I met Maria, she had barely begun to sit up. The doctors in Peru did not even believe that she could do that much.  Last month, a writer returning from Peru visited and wrote about our project, bringing me back a video of Maria riding a tricycle.

PLANS FOR 2013, HERE AND ABROAD

Pfamilies

To the right is a recent picture taken at "Centro Joaquin" our project in Peru.  As many of you know, I cancelled my October trip because of my son's surgery. Now that he is doing well, my plans are to return in January.  One of my goals for the trip is to investigate the possibility of putting in hydrotherapy equipment at the center.  It is amazing the gains that someone can make in the water, that are so difficult on land.  We have four children that can benefit much from this service, but need to investigate the water availability in the area along with heating and costs.  I look forward to bringing back more pictures and lots of stories for all of you.  This photo was taken by a volunteer writer on her trip to Peru.  She will be submitting a story about our work for printing on or near the DAY FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES, DECEMBER 3RD!  CLICK TO READ NOW

ALSO...

Our local music project here for children in Santa Cruz is still going strong and eagerly received.  Thanks to a recent small grant from BREAD FOR THE JOURNEY we have continued funding until June 2013.  See photos on left.....

AND....Last but not least is the tremendous opportunity (the challenge grant) that we have been given to buy a school van for Tanzania.  2013 promises to have some exciting travel and expansion for our work, thanks to our board, volunteers and donors.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all.

OUR BOARD: Teri Smith, Danna Moreno, Shannon Bros-Seemann, Arnold Kragen, Rose Brindley, Elena Sprenger Cayo, Lee Oberg, Mark Rovan.

AND TO: Nicholson Foundation, Bread for The Journey, Aptos-Capitola Rotary, Santa Cruz Rotary, Center for Spiritual Living, U.N.A., Freund Foundation, Inner Light and all of our private donors.  YOU ARE THE ONES THAT MAKE IT HAPPEN!
