I read with interest today's article in the Australian Financial Review entitled, "Old is anyone over 47" and had to share it with you.
Released today, the Westpac Women of Influence Report questioned nearly 1200 women and more than 500 men, earning over $85,000 a year and in senior leadership positions with responsibility for business performance or managing a team. Old workers are thought to be more expensive to retain than hiring young people, and have outdated skills. Old is now 47, the average age senior business leaders see discrimination becoming an issue for workers in Australia.
As I'm considered a 'mature age' worker and many of the clients I coach are, by the definition of this Report released today, 'old', I had to add my 2 cents worth. What are your thoughts? Here's the
link to the article with my thoughts and recommended solutions for job seekers.
