 WEEKLY NEWS:

As promised, Wholly Macro has decreased the frequency of our closure schedule. But we finally need a break, so we must announce our upcoming closure. But not to worry, we will still be open for another THREE weeks before we close, at which point:

Wholly Macro will be closed for two weeks.

We will be closed the week of March 2, 2016,
and the week of March 9, 2016.

We will re-open the week of March 16, 2016,
and will send that menu out on March 12, 2016.

If you need to reach us during the weeks that we are closed,
Or need anything at all,
Please contact our assistant Annette at 954 214-5403.

She will be happy to help you,
Or contact us for you if necessary.

As always, and especially for anyone new to the Wholly Macro Delivery world, we encourage you to order extra food for yourself starting right now, to freeze for use while we are closed. All of our menus are surprisingly freezer friendly, and are just perfect for ordering extra food from.

If you want to read all about how to best freeze (and thaw) your Wholly Macro food, when freezing is recommended and when it isn't, how to make our schedule work for you, and many other interesting and helpful details about freezing the Wholly Macro food and dealing successfully with Wholly Macro's closure, please click here for full details from our previous Wholly Macro Newsletter entitled: Freeze And Hold.

We highly recommend that you take the time to read this info if you have not done so already. There is some really great nutritional information contained within it, whether you freeze extra Wholly Macro food for yourself or not!

We also provide links to My very True Story and experience in freezing Wholly Macro food for myself, every time that we close. If you would like to read all about it, please click here

We hope that My True Story will be helpful (and enjoyable) for you in planning for your own extra orders with us for these next few weeks.

And in the meantime, we are leaving you with some pretty great freezer friendly menus, including this one!

ABOUT THIS WEEKS MENU

We have a really great menu for you this week, with a beautiful selection of all things healthy, balanced, and fun to eat to choose from.

Emphasis on FUN to eat!!

Because why shouldn't healthy food be fun to eat?

Who doesn't love a thick, rich, flavorful, and high protein miso based soup such as our super food Minestrone Miso Soup? It is sure to please your palette, while at the same time giving you an abundance of healthy and life giving super nutrients from the beans, veggies, miso, wakame sea vegetable, and shiitake mushrooms contained within.

And just think of how useful the Brown Rice And Hato Mugi Risotto will be. You can use it as a breakfast porridge, as a base for your own creation of dishes such as vegetable fried rice, or simply as is.

Another very fun freezer friendly dish is the Seitan And Zucchini Parmesan. It is such a versatile dish. It can be served over grains, served with fresh pasta, or again, simply enjoyed as is.

And speaking of pasta, everybody LOVES pasta! Especially Tan Tan Noodles, which is yet another fun, flavorful, and satisfying dish that freezes really well and is sure to satisfy no matter which week you use it.

We hope that you will enjoy the Boiled Salad With Pumpkin Seed Umeboshi Tahini as well. There are a tremendous variety of vegetables, and therefore nutrients, in just one little container of this dish, a veritable rainbow of colors and nutrition, that is sure to keep you on track.

And last, but far from least: We just love the Tiramisu Cake. It is a Wholly Macro favorite. Even just one forkful of this cake a day is enough to keep your sweet tooth under (healthy) control. This is a great dish to have around. It will go a long way towards helping to prevent serious episodes of sugar binging! It is truly a labor of love from us to you.

MINESTRONE MISO SOUP
SMALL___ LARGE___
A rich full bodied macrobiotic version of the Italian classic, using a variety of mineral rich and kidney strengthening beans: black, white, and chick peas, combined with bite sized dices of carrot, celery, yellow onion, sweet and fragrant fennel, bitter green liver cleansing arugula, brown rice spiral noodles, (the coolest little round, hollow noodles that allow little items like beans to float through them!), flavorful and decorative cremini mushrooms, energetically relaxing and cleansing shiitake mushrooms, wakame sea vegetable, chick pea miso, and a sprinkling of fresh green chlorophyll rich Italian parsley.
BROWN RICE AND HATO MUGI RISOTTO
SMALL___ LARGE___
Ah, the calming and balancing whole grain dish! Strengthening medium grain brown rice is slowly cooked with thick and creamy skin beautifying hato mugi, which lend themselves perfectly to the formation of a sweet and creamy risotto made with kombu sea vegetable, sweet and enzyme rich yellow miso, mirin - a naturally fermented brown rice cooking "sherry", pungent and flavorful vitamin K and iron rich organic capers, slices of cremini mushrooms to add richness, flavor, and creaminess, slices of shiitake mushroom to impart their unique flavor and immune strengthening health giving properties, and a sliced green scallion garnish.
 SEITAN AND ZUCCHINI PARMESAN
SMALL___ LARGE___
Wholly Macro's healthy version of veal parmesan; cholesterol and fat free, mineral rich whole grain wheat protein, forms an highly textured product called seitan, which is lightly battered with arrowroot, and pan seared, then layered with a naturally sweet and good for the pancreas beta carotene rich non acidic kabocha squash, yellow onion, cremini mushroom, and carrot marinara sauce, and pieces of grilled zucchini, then baked to perfection, and topped with grated brown rice "cheese" and fresh oregano. Whew. Yum!!
 TAN TAN NOODLES

WEEKLY ARTICLE:

Heat Therapy For Our Pets

While I was outside doing my nightly cat walk the other night, (you can read all about my fun and healthy catwalk via our newsletter archives link), I ran into a neighbor of mine and the following story ensued.

It has been pretty chilly out these past few weeks. And I have an outdoor cat.

And you know how they say on the nightly news to be sure to protect your plants and pets from the cold by covering them and / or bringing them in? That just makes me feel so terribly guilty about leaving her outside in the cold.

In my defense, she refuses to come in. And in my further defense, she has a very well protected corner of the front patio area, with an assortment of hang out spots.

She has her cat tower scratching post with a view, where she enjoys slumbering in mild weather.

And then she has her multi layered cushy padded bed to snuggle in on cold nights. She has even been known to spend the entire day in her warm snuggly "winter" bed if it is cold enough out!

So... while outside one very cold evening (by Florida standards), preparing for my nightly catwalk, a neighbor of mine walked by with her dog. They are "regulars". I run into them several nights a week, and we walk and talk, in order to visit without losing our exercise time.

But I had not seen my neighbor and her dog for several weeks.

She explained that her dog had a bad shoulder and that it was hard for him to walk this far, so she has mainly been walking with him closer to her home (down the street a ways).

I told her that I would walk with her for a while to visit and catch up, our usual routine, but that first I wanted to put the heat therapy pack that I was holding in my hand in my cats bed, so that she could get all warm and snuggly while I was out walking and totally freezing!

My neighbor was SO curious about the heat pack, fascinated really at my little outdoor heating system for my cat.

I handed the heat pack to her, package and all, so that she could check it out.

And I must give my neighbor the credit for this, because she said: Maybe I should use a heat pack like this for my dogs injured shoulder. It says it is for pain relief.

I said: What a brilliant idea. I think it would really help your sweet dog (who was obviously in some discomfort).

My focus in buying these great little air activated heat packs has been for use as a heat source under the top layer of blankies in the cat bed, an electric blanket of sorts, sans the actual electricity, which wouldn't be safe for a pet.

These mildly hot, air activated, disposable heat packs, especially when placed under the top layer of the pets bedding, make for a safe and perfect heat source for your pet.

I had never even considered that they make great little beddy bye heat packs for sore, aging, or injured animals as well.

But as I was explaining the heat pack setup to yet another friend, who was asking what I do about my outdoor cat when it is cold, the light bulb went off for both of us at once: that she can use the heat packs for her elderly dogs aches and pains as well.

And let's face it, all of our Florida pets "freeze" when it gets cold out. They whine and complain like crazy! Just like their human counterparts! And a cold body, whether animal or human, gets tight, and stiff, and therefore achier.

I have found that the temperature of this type of heat pack really does stay mild. They are designed to adhere directly to human skin, and gently heat / alleviate pain and stiffness, for "up to eight hours". But of course, it would be painful to remove them if you were to adhere them to your pet's furry skin.

So unless someone reading this has an idea on how to place them directly ON the pets body (without stressing the pet out), attached to a little jacket perhaps, the next best thing is to place them IN the pets bed, under a protective top layer of bedding, just before the pet retires.

If you know how your pet typically sleeps, you can place the heat pack in such a way that it comes into contact with the sore or injured area of your pets body.

On really cold nights, I use two heat packs in my cat's bed. One for her front side, and one for her back.

So if your pet is just generally achy, using more than one heat pack is always an option!

Whether your pet is achy, cold, or hopefully neither, if you want to treat your pet to nice soothing heat therapy, please give heat therapy packs for your pets a try. And please feel free to pass this great idea on to all of your animal loving friends who may know a beloved pet that could benefit!

Of course, improving your pets diet can work wonders in alleviating the aches and pains of their body too, just as it does for us humans!

Rex: Our friends 14 year young dog, who is on an extremely healthy diet, and LOVING the heat pack therapy!

We want to wish everyone a Happy Valentine's Day before signing off.

The date didn't really coincide with our delivery day this year, but there is always Tiramisu!

May health, happiness, and prosperity be your unavoidable natural state and your ongoing daily experience.

Here's some feedback from a consultation client.....

" three years ago I discovered that I had breast cancer.  I had heard of Macrobiotics years ago. I didn't understand the concept but immediately I knew that that would be the route that I would pursue. But where to go and who to see was the question. Thank God for reading the macrobiotic newsletter. For in the newsletter there was  an article about Gayle Stolove. I just felt her strength and passion burn through the page that I was reading. I immediately made an appointment to see her and although I was still so frightened,  I felt so comfortable talking with Gayle. Gayle  guided me through the whole process. I thought that the macrobiotic way of life would be boring and just eating rice. Well, I love the foods that I eat and I just feel good about it all.  You see, after the surgery, you are sort of left on your own.You have to make your own decisions, etc. Everyone gives you different advice as what to eat, what to do, etc. Doctors don't understand what the patient is going through nor do they understand what kind of diet they should follow. I adopted Gayle as my guardian angel.  You can't find that with any nutritionist or doctor. I love receiving her weekly e-mailed newsletters. They are so full of wonderful knowledge and beautiful healthy recipes. Gayle is a remarkable human being. She truly cares for her clients and gives them her all, one hundred percent of the time. Gayle has been there and therefore she is so compassionate and dedicates her life to helping people like me....."     a cancer survivor
