How To Pan Fry A Rice Ball

 
We do this by brushing a stainless steel or cast iron
pan with regular un-toasted sesame oil, olive oil, or coconut oil, then slowly, on a medium flame, bringing it to a medium high temperature. We want it hot, but not smoking hot.
 
Once the pan gets nice and hot, place a rice ball in the pan, and gently smash it so that it is a little flatter and more of it can make contact with the hot oil. Let it sizzle away. Let the sesame seeds snap, crackle, and pop as they heat up and get nice and crisp. Flip it, and repeat on the other side.
 
Then eat and enjoy!!

We hope that everyone had a lovely and peaceful Thanksgiving holiday.
 
And we hope that you enjoyed the beautiful and traditional feast that Wholly Macro prepared for you.
 
We know that we did!
 
Yum, yum, yum. We LOVE healthy Thanksgiving fare!
 
This week, we find ourselves one week out from Thanksgiving, and already feel the Christmas, Chanukah, and New Years holidays fast approaching.
 
Is it just us, or has time super sped up?
 
Did the Christmas ~ New Years holiday always happen so soon after Thanksgiving?
 
Who planned the calendar this way anyways???
 
All joking aside, The Holidays are totally upon us.
 
So we want to announce Wholly Macro's Holiday Closings this week.
 
But no need to panic, we still have three full weeks of delicious menu's for you until we close, culminating with our very special Holiday Menu, which will come out on December 16, our last food delivery week until after the holidays.
 


With that said, please be aware that:
 
Wholly Macro is going to take a Two Week Break, in THREE weeks.
 
We are giving you advance notice so that you will have plenty of time to order a really nice variety of extra containers for yourself to use while we are closed.
  

  

Wholly Macro Will Be Closed:

December 23 And December 30, 2015.

Our Last Delivery Date Prior To Closing Will Be
December 16, 2015.
 
Wholly Macro will re-open on January 6, 2016.

 And We Will Send That Menu Out On 
January 2, 2016.

We highly recommend that you take the time to read this info if you have not done so already. There is some really great nutritional information contained within it, whether you freeze extra Wholly Macro food for yourself or not!

Every time that we close, we also provide links to my very true story about my personal experience in freezing Wholly Macro food for myself.

The link that we have provided in the past was from my experience with freezing the Wholly Macro food from three years ago when Jaime, the head chef around here, was out of town.

 
I have updated "my true story", because I used the freeze and hold method again, very successfully, during this last closure of ours, when Jaime once again went out of town and left me to fend for myself!

ABOUT THIS WEEKS MENU
 
We have a really great menu for you this week, with a beautiful selection of all things healthy, balanced, and fun to eat to choose from.
 
Emphasis on FUN to eat!!
 
Because why shouldn't healthy food be fun to eat??!!
 
Who doesn't love a thick, rich, flavorful, and creamy miso based soup such as our famous Five Onion Miso Soup? It is sure to please your palette, while at the same time giving you an abundance of healthy and life giving super nutrients from the miso, wakame sea vegetable, and shiitake mushrooms contained within.

 
 
And just think of how fun and useful the Sesame Umeboshi Nori Rice Balls will be. We have provided instructions on Wholly Macro's very favorite way to eat rice balls in the left margin of this newsletter. Please take a look, and give our favorite method a try if you are so inclined. 

 


Another very fun dish is the Tofu Eggless Salad. It is such a versatile dish. It can be used in a salad, as a sandwich, as a dip with your favorite accouterments, or simply as is.
 




And everybody LOVES pasta! Especially Pasta With Pistachio
Pesto. It is so flavorful, satisfying, and healthy, it freezes really well, and is sure to satisfy no matter which week you use it.
 

                                               
We hope that you will enjoy the Boiled Salad With Pumpkin Seed 
Umeboshi Tahini as well.There are a tremendous variety of vegetables, and therefore nutrients, in just one little container of this dish, a veritable rainbow of colors and nutrition that is sure to keep you on track.

 

And last, but far from least: We just 
love the S'More Cake. 
Just one forkful of this cake a day is all that you need to keep your sweet tooth under (healthy) control. This is a great dish to have around during the holidays. It will go a long way towards helping to prevent serious episodes of holiday sugar binging! 

 

Please note that in 2016 Wholly Macro will NOT close as often.

We plan to space our closures out a little longer in the New Year.

FIVE ONION MISO SOUP
SMALL___ LARGE___
No, not five onions, but five different kinds of onions, all blended together to create this naturally sweet, creamy, miso based soup. Onions, with their gentle and natural sweetness, are relaxing and nourishing to the stomach and pancreas. This soup uses red onion, yellow onion, green onion, leek, and shallot, blended with protein rich red lentils, and the classic miso soup fixtures; wakame sea vegetable for minerals, shiitake mushroom and irish moss for immune system stimulation and deep internal cleansing, and rich in abundant live enzymes yellow miso, pureed with calcium rich sesame tahini, garnished with bright green chives, and finished with a subtle burst of earthy herbs de Provence. Can also be eaten cool, like vichyssoise.

SESAME UMEBOSHI NORI RICE BALLS

The best source of complex carbohydrates, power packed short grain and sweet brown rice are rolled into chewy and delicious rice "balls", that are spiked throughout with crunchy morsels of roasted ginger and fresh and flavorful green chives, stuffed with a piece of digestive and alkalizing umeboshi plum, and flecked with gently relaxing mineral rich green nori sea vegetable flakes which are rich in chlorophyll and antioxidants, then dipped in calcium and trace mineral rich toasted brown sesame seeds. A beautiful and appealing, fun, and very healthy way to consume brown rice at a meal or as a snack!
 TOFU "EGG LESS" SALAD

A crisp and fresh, healthy version of "egg" salad, made with protein and calcium rich tofu, beta carotene rich lightly blanched carrots, alkalizing umeboshi pickled sweet red onions, enzyme rich pickled cucumbers, naturally diuretic celery slices, good for the lungs red radish, and a plethora of chlorophyll rich blood building arugula, all tossed in a creamy tofu and umeboshi plum liver cleansing lemony mayonnaise like dressing.
PASTA WITH PISTACHIO PESTO

Quinoa is the base of these lovely spaghetti noodles that are tossed in a fragrant and low fat pesto made from mineral and essential fatty acid rich pistachio's and pumpkin seeds, blended with bright green bursting with chlorophyll and good for the liver fresh parsley, fresh basil, yellow miso, and highlighted with digestion stimulating and enzyme rich natural organic green olives.
 BOILED SALAD WITH PUMPKIN SEED UMEBOSHI TAHINI

Enjoy the lightly cooked freshness, texture, and color of a lightly boiled salad when you order this delicious and healthy dish. We use good for the liver soft green bok choy, gorgeously colorful and mineral and fiber rich red cabbage, decorative and frilly full of nutrition broccoli florettes, potassium rich cauliflower, pungently flavorful fresh fennel, and a smattering of enzyme and probiotic rich Mediterranean olives, all dressed with a light dressing of freshly ground trace mineral rich pumpkin seed tahini.

Reminiscent of summer camp and campfires, this dessert is a take on those thick, rich, and gooey s'mores. The cake is a whole wheat pastry flour, natural vitamin E rich sunflower oil, and brown rice syrup batter that is spiked with coconut and almonds, then smothered with naturally caffeine free luscious carob caramel, and topped with high protein, calcium rich, low fat and cholesterol, totally satisfying tofu whip cr�me. Most foods used in the Wholly Macro kitchen are not packaged, but instead are bought in the produce section or in bulk. But as you know, cross contamination is always a possibility, especially with bulk items. And in the few packaged foods that we do use, such as nut butters for example, it is common to find warnings on the manufacturer label stating that the item was processed in a plant that handles tree nuts, soy, wheat, dairy, gluten, shellfish, and so on.  

 

Wholly Macro cannot be responsible for trace amounts of common food allergens that come from outside (packaged  or bulk items), and therefore end up occurring within our prepared foods. Please use your own discretion in determining if our food is appropriate for your consumption, especially if you have severe food allergies.

 

We are always available to clarify any of the ingredients that we use, and assist you in your weekly selections, but we cannot keep track of your food allergies, sensitivities, likes, dislikes or preferences.
