WEEKLY ARTICLE:

Ibis Update

Everyone sent SO much love, support, and positive energy in response to the Saint Francis Of Fort Lauderdale Ibis Rescue Story in our last newsletter.

Thank-you!

As promised in the cliffhanger ending to that last newsletter, here is the, tada, drum roll please:

Long Awaited Ibis Update!

I have called the Fort Lauderdale Wildlife Rescue facility every few days these past few weeks to check on our rescue Ibis, and I am happy to report that he is doing much better.

The first call was a bit anxiety provoking because I didn't want to receive any bad news.

In fact, the thought crossed my mind to NOT call and check. That way I could create a happy ending to the story. In my own mind at least. My own imaginary version!

But I had to know the truth, so mustered up as much courage as I could, and made the call that next day following "the rescue".

I told the person who answered the phone at the wildlife center that I was calling to check on the Ibis that I had brought in the night before.

I was told, that there weren't any progress notes in the file yet. Encouraging!

At least Mr. Ibis was still alive! Whew. What a relief.

So I called back a few hours later and got the report:

"A young bird with several infected wounds of unknown origin. Very weak, malnourished and dehydrated. The wounds were cleaned, and the bird is being treated with antibiotics, subcutaneous fluids, and food".

Happy news! I'm glad I made the call. There were NO broken bones. The bird was simply too weak to fly, and they told me that we did a great thing by rescuing it, because it probably would not have survived the night otherwise.

The next call that I made was about three days later, and a very friendly and helpful woman answered.

She volunteered to go back to the "hospital" area and check on the bird for me. I gladly accepted her offer.
She came back with the most updated notes, that stated that the bird is making real progress, is eating well, standing on his own, and that the wounds are scabbing over and healing well.

I asked her what they do with the birds once they are ready to be released, and she said that they release them back to their "neighborhood" so that they can rejoin their "friends".

How sweet is that??

She went on to explain that the rescue animals' chances of survival are much greater when they are returned to their familiar habitat.

That was music to my ears, because I really feel strongly that an animal - or bird - really does develop a comfortable routine within their 'hood, and that wrenching them out of their familiar territory must be very traumatic for them.

I felt terrible taking our bird away from his familiar home in and around the sweet little turtle pond that night, but it had to be done.

I had mentioned in the last newsletter that there is a flock of Ibis that have been coming to this particular neck of the woods for generations, and I am sure that this Ibis was part of that flock.

We'll see, because the Wildlife rescue center offered to contact me when "my" Ibis is released so that I can be there if I want to be.
I want to be there I told them. Yes, yes, yes. Contact me for the release!

And being Saint Francis of Fort Lauderdale such that I am, I plan to gather the local Ibis flock all around me to greet their newly revived buddy and welcome him back to the hood!

Or at least point the Wildlife Rescue people in the right direction!
It may be a few weeks yet, because Mr. Ibis will take a while to fully heal, and and Wildlife Rescue doesn't like to release their patients prematurely.

Thank goodness for that.

The great folks at the Wildlife Rescue Center have clearly found, that the best chance of survival for an animal, once released, is when they are completely, totally, and fully healed.

So they rehabilitate their residents for as long as it takes. They never throw them back out into the world until they are ready.

There is a lesson in there for us humans I do believe!

Anyway, thank goodness for the Wildlife Rescue Center.

They are wonderful people doing a great service to this entire community.

They turned what started out as a sad and scary story into a happy positive!

And we here at Wholly Macro just LOVE positives!

On that note, let us just say that we are positively thrilled to be back with you.

Thank-you for all of the positive energy that you always send our way, in relation to everything!

You, our readers, followers, and friends, are absolutely, positively amazing!

May health, happiness, and prosperity be your unavoidable natural state and your ongoing daily experience.

Here's some feedback from a consultation client.....

" three years ago I discovered that I had breast cancer.  I had heard of Macrobiotics years ago. I didn't understand the concept but immediately I knew that that would be the route that I would pursue. But where to go and who to see was the question. Thank God for reading the macrobiotic newsletter. For in the newsletter there was  an article about Gayle Stolove. I just felt her strength and passion burn through the page that I was reading. I immediately made an appointment to see her and although I was still so frightened,  I felt so comfortable talking with Gayle. Gayle  guided me through the whole process. I thought that the macrobiotic way of life would be boring and just eating rice. Well, I love the foods that I eat and I just feel good about it all.  You see, after the surgery, you are sort of left on your own.You have to make your own decisions, etc. Everyone gives you different advice as what to eat, what to do, etc. Doctors don't understand what the patient is going through nor do they understand what kind of diet they should follow. I adopted Gayle as my guardian angel.  You can't find that with any nutritionist or doctor. I love receiving her weekly e-mailed newsletters. They are so full of wonderful knowledge and beautiful healthy recipes. Gayle is a remarkable human being. She truly cares for her clients and gives them her all, one hundred percent of the time. Gayle has been there and therefore she is so compassionate and dedicates her life to helping people like me....."     a cancer survivor
