On Our Way Home - The Beatles

At One With The Sea....
It seems that we are finally on our way back home after our grand adventure out and about in the major world!
We started out on land with a few days in Rome, and then caught a cruise that took us to Italy, France, Greece, Croatia, Albania, and Slovenia!!
"That's a mouthful"
 | Croatia |
And we ended our trip on land by spending a few days in London before heading home.
It was fun, exciting, and interesting to visit so many uniquely different cultures.
And at the same time, it was SO humbling to step outside of our little tiny Wholly Macro comfort zone and experience the vastness of the world around us.
Being on a cruise ship is a bit separatist. The rebel in me really dislikes that. Yet at the same time it is the most efficient way to get a quick overview of a lot of places in the hopes of being able to revisit the favorites for a much longer time at a later date.
And besides, it was a family cruise. A generous gift to us from my mother. There were no options!
Rather than feel angry and annoyed at the separation between our sheltered cruise ship world and the country and culture that we just so happened to embark upon each day, I chose to mindfully connect to the energy of each place by being a more open vessel than my cruise ship was, and allowing interactions, experiences, and interconnectedness to flow through me.
|
That is my favorite way to travel.
I did my best to make it happen within the confines of the cruise.
And in order to curb my rebelliousness and frustration, I meditated on acceptance and compassion in order to feel connected.
I exuded a deep and abiding love to all in order to accept and connect.
I respectfully appreciated the history embedded in the lines of the faces of the strangers who were all around me, until I felt at one with them and could see the world through their eyes.

I did not separate myself from others.
I tried not to judge or compare, and that allowed me to really feel connected to all.
A beautiful love enveloped me as I became one with the huge human family that we are a part of whether we like it or not.
We are all in the same boat.
Ha-ha. Pun intended!!
I choose to make MY boat a magical experience.
Amazingly and wonderfully, most of the world seems to choose peace, magic and harmony as well, despite the "bad press".
Please choose it for yourselves too, and let the magic unfold!
|
Bread cast on the waters comes back to you.
The good deed you do today
may benefit you or someone you love
at the least expected time.
If you never see the deed again
at least you will have
made the world a better place -
And after all, isn't that what life is all about?

ABOUT THIS WEEK'S MENU
......With Rice Balls in Tow
We are SURE that you are ready for some freshly prepared Wholly Macro food by now.
We know that we are!!
We used to call this weeks article Smash and Grab.
But when we say "Smash and Grab", it is not what you think!
We mean it in a good way, because what we are referring to is smashing and then pan - frying our Sesame ~ Umeboshi Green Nori Rice Balls, before you grab (and gobble ) them!
Maybe we should call this newsletter Grab And Gobble!
While it is easy enough to simply eat our delicious and convenient rice balls as is, what we here at Wholly Macro really LOVE to do with them, is to pan fry them before eating.
|
How To Fry A Rice Ball:
We do this by brushing a stainless steel or cast iron pan with regular un-toasted sesame oil, then slowly, on a medium flame, bringing it to a medium high temperature. We want it hot, but not smoking hot.
Just to clarify: We want to be smoking hot, and we all are, aren't we (because we eat such healthy food, moon bathe, etc.) but we definitely don't want our cooking oil to be smoking hot!
Anyway, where were we??
Oh, right. Once the pan gets nice and hot, place a rice ball or two in the pan, and gently smash it so that it is a little flatter and more of it can make contact with the hot oil. Let it sizzle away. Let the sesame seeds snap, crackle, and pop as they heat up and get nice and crisp. Flip it, and repeat on the other side.
Then eat and enjoy!!
|
Rice balls were invented to be a perfect travel food.
But here at Wholly Macro we think of them as a perfect "grab and go" snack or meal.
They are compact, very nutrient dense and filling, and because they contain umeboshi plum, which acts a natural preservative due to it's pickled state, the rice balls can last for a long time, up to a week and beyond.
Here at Wholly Macro we always take rice balls with us when traveling, whether our travels are as simple as a trip to our own kitchen, or as extensive as an afternoon or evening away from our kitchen.
We love to take them on big trips too, because once we arrive at our destination and refrigerate the rice balls there is nothing as convenient and satisfying as a few smashed and fried rice balls to grab while on the go!
Wherever you are, and however you enjoy your rice balls, that you do so in a civilized way. And by civilized, we mean that you can smash and fry your rice balls, grab them, and go, but you cannot eat them (or anything) on the go.
|
Please always be sure to sit down to your meal.
Look at your food and appreciate the life force that it contains and is about to transfer to you. This type of visual observation actually initiates digestion by stimulating the flow of gastric juices and digestive enzymes.
Eat slowly and breathe deeply while eating.
Food combined with oxygen burns more calories than food without oxygen!
Chew well. The rice balls are a real mouthful, so be sure to chew them thoroughly.
|
So please take a look at this week's menu items (below), and be sure to take the time to enjoy eating each and every one of this weeks unique Wholly Macro creations.
Taking a few moments to practice nutritional self care results in many moments of optimal health and energy!
It is SO worth it!!
May health, happiness, and prosperity be your unavoidable natural state and your ongoing daily experience.

Here's some feedback from a consultation client..... " three years ago I discovered that I had breast cancer. I had heard of Macrobiotics years ago. I didn't understand the concept but immediately I knew that that would be the route that I would pursue. But where to go and who to see was the question. Thank God for reading the macrobiotic newsletter. For in the newsletter there was an article about Gayle Stolove. I just felt her strength and passion burn through the page that I was reading. I immediately made an appointment to see her and although I was still so frightened, I felt so comfortable talking with Gayle. Gayle guided me through the whole process. I thought that the macrobiotic way of life would be boring and just eating rice. Well, I love the foods that I eat and I just feel good about it all. You see, after the surgery, you are sort of left on your own.You have to make your own decisions, etc. Everyone gives you different advice as what to eat, what to do, etc. Doctors don't understand what the patient is going through nor do they understand what kind of diet they should follow. I adopted Gayle as my guardian angel. You can't find that with any nutritionist or doctor. I love receiving her weekly e-mailed newsletters. They are so full of wonderful knowledge and beautiful healthy recipes. Gayle is a remarkable human being. She truly cares for her clients and gives them her all, one hundred percent of the time. Gayle has been there and therefore she is so compassionate and dedicates her life to helping people like me....." a cancer survivor |
