How To Best Re-Heat The Fillo Pastry Puffs

 

If the spirit so moves you we have one little tiny cooking suggestion for you in regards to this weeks menu, and that is, to put the Fillo Pastry Puffs in the oven before serving.

 

When we initially prepare them they are so puffy, so crispy, and so delicious. But when packaged they tend to loose their crispness. But the great thing about the fillo pastry puffs is that you can put them back in the oven (or toaster oven) for just a few minutes, and they will puff (and crisp) right back up.

 

This will work even if you freeze a container or two of them.

 

If you don't want to turn the oven on for a few fillo, you can also re-heat them in a frying pan stove top. Just lightly brush the frying pan with oil, add the fillo, and flip them to the other side after a few minutes.

 

They won't get as puffy on the stove as they will in the oven, but they will crisp up nicely either way.

 

This is entirely optional of course because the fillo are fully cooked and ready to eat when you receive them, and we have heard told that many an entire container of them have been devoured, as is, upon receipt!

 

In other words, they are enjoyable no matter what you do with them!

 

As we go into the summer season, we won't be making the various fillo dishes as often. They require long hours of oven usage with as many of them as we need to make, and it is just too hot in the summer for such extensive oven use.

 

You will find them appearing on the Wholly Macro menus more often in the winter.

 

But take heart. They freeze really well, so you can always order a few extra containers to hold you over for the summer!

WHITE BEAN AND ARUGULA MISO SOUP

White beans are cooked with kombu sea vegetable, pancreas healthy sweet yellow onions, crisp green celery, gentle yet mineral rich wakame sea vegetable, powerfully cleansing shiitake mushrooms, live enzyme rich yellow miso, fine dices of carrot, bitter green good for the heart and liver barely blanched arugula, and chlorophyll rich fresh parsley, to create a hearty and healthy miso soup.

BROWN RICE AND MILLET WITH SEITAN AND SHIITAKES

Perfectly energetically balanced medium grain brown rice, is cooked with pancreatic supportive and alkalizing whole grain millet, infused with mineral rich kombu sea vegetable, then tossed with lightly saut�ed low fat pure protein and mineral rich seitan, and immune system strengthening uniquely flavorful shiitake and cremini mushrooms, and garnished with fresh green liver cleansing scallions.


FILLO PASTRY PUFFS WITH CRANBERRY AND ONION TAPENADE

An interesting and wonderful blend of sweet and tart, this dish combines the good for the stomach and pancreas, naturally sweet flavor of slow cooked yellow onions and leek, with the kidney supportive subtly tart ambience of dried cranberries, in a protein rich base of good for the liver split peas, cooked with kombu sea vegetable for digestibility, and a splash of mirin brown rice cooking "sherry" and naturally fermented shoyu soy sauce, all wrapped in wheat germ and rosemary layered cooked to crisp perfection spelt fillo pastry. Please heat in a dry frying pan or oven to crisp them up before serving.

 

BOWTIE PASTA PORTOBELLO

Liver healthy whole grain brown rice bowtie noodles are tossed with juicy Portobello mushrooms, uniquely flavorful shiitake mushrooms, cremini mushrooms, naturally fermented and enzyme rich black olives, lots of chlorophyll rich fresh basil and parsley, vitalizing pine nuts, and organic capers, for a perfect, warm or cool, light and flavorful anytime pasta dish.

Most foods used in the Wholly Macro kitchen are not packaged, but instead are bought in the produce section or in bulk. But as you know, cross contamination is always a possibility, especially with bulk items. And in the few packaged foods that we do use, such as nut butters for example, it is common to find warnings on the manufacturer label stating that the item was processed in a plant that handles tree nuts, soy, wheat, dairy, gluten, shellfish, and so on.  

 

Wholly Macro cannot be responsible for trace amounts of common food allergens that come from outside (packaged  or bulk items), and therefore end up occurring within our prepared foods. Please use your own discretion in determining if our food is appropriate for your consumption, especially if you have severe food allergies.

 

We are always available to clarify any of the ingredients that we use, and assist you in your weekly selections, but we cannot keep track of your food allergies, sensitivities, likes, dislikes or preferences.
