The big news this week is that WE ARE BACK!!

 

No more announcing our closing dates each week, and no more advising you to order extra food to freeze while we are closed, although you have to admit, ordering extra food to have on hand while we were closed is a good idea, and it worked well, right?

 

But are you as ready for some nice fresh food, as we are to prepare it for you??

 

We have a really beautiful menu in store for you this week.

 

Lots of favorites. And a huge array of amazingly healthy ingredients contained within each and every one of the special dishes we have compiled to create the March 20, 2013 Wholly Macro Delivery Menu.

                                    Live Slow
 

We thought this an appropriate week (after coming off of our two week break) to mention, for just one slowed down moment, the simple beauty of finding the suspended moment in time that releases the freshness of living.

 

The key to finding this moment is to slow down enough to catch a glimpse of it.

 

But do we? Do we ever slow down enough to connect to the ongoing moment of the beginning of time, the place from which each precious breath begins?

 

Not often enough for most of us probably.

 

But think of it this way:

 

When we are inconvenienced, we are being asked to slow down.

 

When we are stalled by traffic, or weather, or people, we are being reminded to slow down and take a look around.

 

 

When we find our best-laid plans delayed, we should search back far enough to re-find the beginning of time.

 

But instead, too many of us, living our oh so important high paced lives, running, running so fast to where we think we want to be, don't slow down until our body takes us out.

 

 

 

 

The message to all of us is to stop before we break.

 

Do not let your body take you out.

 

Do not wait until you are forced to slow down because of illness or breakage.

 

But if you do, as so many of us do, end up letting your body take you out, please, at least finally stop the chase then. So many of us don't. Even then.

 

The ground below us moves so slowly that we take it for granted.

 

If you feel stalled, delayed, blocked, or frenzied, don't fight it. Instead, take it as a sign to slow down to the pace of the earth soaking up freshly fallen rain, and let the beauty of that moment remind you to live slow enough that there is only, once again, the beginning of time.

 

 

 

Live slow. Eat even slower. And chew slowly and well.

 

  

May health, happiness, and prosperity be your unavoidable natural state and your ongoing daily experience.

CR�ME OF SHIITAKE MUSHROOM SOUP
SMALL___ LARGE___
A rich and creamy blend of pureed, healing and flavorful shiitake mushrooms, cremini mushrooms, yellow onions, strengthening green leek, and mildly and naturally diuretic crispy slices of celery, in a base of mineral rich wakame sea vegetable, mirin brown rice cooking "sherry", and enzyme rich sweet yellow miso. Delicately garnished with parsley and rosemary..
VEGETABLE FRIED RICE
SMALL___ LARGE___
Energy promoting medium grain brown rice is cooked with mineral rich kombu sea vegetable, then artistically assembled with stir fried cremini mushrooms, green peas, naturally sweet yellow onions, beta carotene rich carrots, pungent green scallions, fresh ginger, and a splash of flavorful and full bodied tamari soy sauce. Always a favorite.
SESAME SEARED TOFU AND RUTABAGA
SMALL___ LARGE___
A long time favorite, nice large dices of protein and calcium rich tofu, are marinated in circulation stimulating fresh ginger juice, then coated with mineral rich brown sesame seeds and arrowroot "flour" to form a paper thin crust, and alternated with good for the stomach, spleen, and pancreas, strengthening and energizing rutabaga. Garnished with a glitter of fresh green parsley. 
FILLO PASTRY PUFFS WITH SEITAN AND OLIVE TAPENADE
SMALL___ LARGE___
Flaky little pastries made with spelt fillo dough layered with crunchy and vitalizing toasted wheat germ, and filled with a Mediterranean reminiscent tapenade of omega fatty acid rich walnuts, lentils, live enzyme rich black olives, yellow onions, protein rich seitan, flavorful fresh basil, and a touch of rich and heady balsamic vinegar. They are fully cooked, and can be placed in the oven or a lightly oiled pan for puffing them back up and crisping them before eating. Another all time favorite!
BRAISED RED CABBAGE WITH KALE AND ARAME

This dish is a study in the naturally beautiful colors provided to us by our highly valued fresh vegetable friends that literally show their colors to represent their nutrients. Deep purple red cabbage is high in iron and beta carotene, and is braised in a toasted sesame oil, ginger, brown rice syrup, umeboshi plum, mustard, and shoyu sauce, then highlighted with lightly steamed chlorophyll rich dark green kale, and iron and mineral rich delicate black strands of arame sea vegetable. Sweetly saut�ed yellow onions, and a sprinkling of fresh green scallions complete this spectacular dish.

 

APPLE COBBLER

A flavorful and naturally spicy palette of just bursting with ripeness crisp and seasonal apples, combined with liver cleansing fresh orange zest, alkalizing and intestine/digestion strengthening kuzu root thickener, sweetened with complex carbohydrate naturally low glycemic brown rice syrup, topped with a mixture of rolled oats, vitamin E rich sunflower seeds, calcium rich almonds, omega three fatty acid rich walnuts, and finished with a hint of cinnamon and vanilla..

Most foods used in the Wholly Macro kitchen are not packaged, but instead are bought in the produce section or in bulk. But as you know, cross contamination is always a possibility, especially with bulk items. And in the few packaged foods that we do use, such as nut butters for example, it is common to find warnings on the manufacturer label stating that the item was processed in a plant that handles tree nuts, soy, wheat, dairy, gluten, shellfish, and so on.  

 

Wholly Macro cannot be responsible for trace amounts of common food allergens that come from outside (packaged  or bulk items), and therefore end up occurring within our prepared foods. Please use your own discretion in determining if our food is appropriate for your consumption, especially if you have severe food allergies.

 

We are always available to clarify any of the ingredients that we use, and assist you in your weekly selections, but we cannot keep track of your food allergies, sensitivities, likes, dislikes or preferences.

Instruction is based on oriental medicine/macrobiotic principals. Start with a basic class  with soup, beans and grains or try a dessert class for a real treat!
