AoP Day, June 23

June 23 has been designated AoP Day.

It celebrates the day six years ago when a conversation I had with Craig Dykstra and Chris Coble, both of the Lilly Endowment, led to the decision to launch the Academy of Preachers.

"Write a grant proposal by September 1, we will approve it in November, and you can start in January." That is the way Dr. Dykstra ended the conversation.

Now, six years later, the Academy of Preachers is well established, with 127 Founding and National Partners and a successful string of programs, products, and publications. Chief among these are the campus, denominational, regional, and national festivals for young preachers.

To commemorate our first AoP Day, we are asking all friends of the AoP to do one (or more) of these six things ON JUNE 23:

1) Post your AoP sermon video to your FB page

2) Write (and post or send somewhere) a fresh statement of endorsement

3) Make a donation to the AoP

4) Buy an AoP product-- all prices (books, cups, apparel, etc) are reduced by $6

5) Register (on line) for an AoP festival: Atlanta, Nashville, New England, or Dallas

6) Attend our first AoP prayer breakfast, in Louisville (where the AoP team will be)

Full details on all of these six things will be posted on this web site and distributed via Twitter, email, and YouTube.

We hope every young preacher who has attended any of our events, all of our partners, donors, and friends, and many new people who are just now hearing about the Academy of Preachers will pledge to do at least one of these six celebratory things.
