We weep and send warm, healing wishes to the people of Paris, and Beirut, and Kenya and all of those suffering from horrible violence around the world.
As we enter this season of joy and thanksgiving, may the wish for peace on earth reach into every heart.

We don't need to fake it any more, fall is definitely here, it is getting dark before most people get home in the evening and some of us have already had heat on. Not like last year.
But one year is not like another. This was not an election year, next year will be one. The League is already anticipating 15-20 measures on the November ballot--and that is just at the state level. We have no idea yet how many there may be at the county and local level. The June primary will have measures placed there by the legislature. So far we only know of two.
Those aren't the only changes. There is a new Motor Voter Law the League worked with--see more about that in the FAQs below. The County Registrar is testing new forms of mail-in ballots and other voting related bills will be before the legislature this year. Moving election systems into the 21st Century.
Our senator, Ben Allen, just visited Colorado during their state elections to see all of the interesting and innovative electoral changes they are implementing and we hope to hear more about them at our Holiday Friend Raiser in December. We hope to see you there!

It seems there is a presidential debate almost every week and the election is almost a year away, but, really, the major action starts on February 1 with the Iowa caucus. Not that far away.
Presidential primaries and caucuses are two different ways candidates compete to win the support of state delegates who will be responsible for choosing the party's nominee at their national nominating convention.
Unlike other elections, each party sets its own primary or caucus rules and each state determines the format and eligibility for voting. Think you know how it all works? Find out now by taking our quiz! |
